Heya, I'm an artist, writer and geek living in New Zealand. I love animals a whole lot. I live with my partner who brews beer in his spare time (gorgeous beer) and our two black cats. We live in a funky bungalow with roses carved into the ceilings and a zillion wild birds in the yard. At night owls come land in our trees and hoot.

I'd like to make some like-minded friends on here for mutual support.:)

Hello fatsecret World
Hi Nikki - welcome!

What's a grappling tournament. Sounds very interesting. Smile

Bounce bounce bounce!
Hello!

Brand new here and still finding my way around the site. Bit of a computer nerd with the body to show for it. Mmm, pasty white jelly belly - sexy sexy! Very Happy

I'm trying to do two things: improve my fitness AND improve my self-esteem. I AM NOT MY WEIGHT. I strive to accept myself as-is and see myself as a beautiful person regardless of how many chins I have at the moment.

Also, I'm intrigued by this phone application thing I've seen mentioned!! I'm guessing it's probably not available here in New Zealand, but I'm real curious now.

Ah! Got it! Smile I like going on epic walks. Luckily in New Zealand the wilderness is never far away. Now that spring is just around the corner, and it'll be light later I'll be more inspired to get out and do those. My fella and I aim to do one big epic walk a week.

Horse riding is totally a *goal*. Though last time I went they argued about my weight and almost didn't let me get on a horse Sad And when they did it was the plodding old draft horse. Shame. I've got 15 kilos to lose before I'll feel confident trying to go riding again - so that's a 'down the road' motivating tactic.

Oh maaaaaan. I just realised that 'epic walk' could totally be interpreted as "long walks on the beach". Hah.

What keeps you behind the computer for hobbies? I'm currently playing Neverwinter Nights for the first time. Yeah, a bit behind the times.

Hey Nathan and Katana!

Nathan - that's a big question! I dunno! I've really 'suffered in silence' with my efforts to get fit so I'm not used to sharing goals or motivation with others. Maybe, as a start, I should create a group and then see what geeky inspiration and motivation comes? See what inspires other people? I'm a firm believer in prizes and I'm keen to do a custom piece of digital art or I can write someone a story if someone reaches their goal and can offer me a similar prize. Stuff like that. And weird challenges like "I dare you to go to the arcade and play Dance Dance Revolution for 15 minutes". Who knows.

And Katana - of COURSE comic book geeks are people too! I used to be married to a comic book illustrator and the San Diego Comic Con was the highlight of my year Very Happy

Whee!

Calling all roleplayers, video game fans and other geeks whose hobbies see them plonked in front of a table, TV or computer. I want motivation to get off my butt and stick to my diet so I can fit in great LARP costumes - not just robes! Interested? Gimme a buzz. Geeks unite!
