First off, I am a native Upstate New Yorker, I have a wonderful husband, and together we have two guinea pigs. We love to travel and try new life experiences. Here is a little about my story and why I'm here:

I have been on my weight loss journey for about eight years on and off. It really started my first day of Freshman year in college- at 347 lbs, doing any activity including walking, aided in losing weight. My first week there, I lost 10 lbs without even trying. Through out the year, I made small changes and before I knew it, I was down about 30 lbs. After that, I had to start really trying. I was very successful at food journaling and hitting the gym 4 to 5 times a week. I had my struggles, but over a 3-4 year period, I was down 170 pounds. The smaller I got, the more obsessive I became with my tracking to make sure I hit my goals. Before I knew it, I had developed an unhealthy relationship with my weight loss journey. I have been struggling with food my entire life- either eating way too much or not having enough.

I got to a point where it all just became overwhelming, I needed to take a break. I was lucky enough to have a new opportunity to start a new life adventure when my then-boyfriend (now husband) got a job out of Washington, DC. The move was exciting and was just what I needed... or so I thought. When I first moved down, I told myself it was okay to lax on my diet and exercise just for a little while during the transition period during the relocation. Fast forward four years later, I still have not fully committed to my diet and exercise plan, and as a result, I have gained back 54 lbs of my 170 lbs weight loss. For the past year, my weight has teetered between 220 and 229. As of this week I am officially back in the 230s and I KNOW I need to make a change now. I have waited too long to get back into it, and I know I must make these changes while I am still physically able to.
