My husband noted that I'm exercising more than ever in my life and asked if perhaps my medication caused this weight gain. I hadn't thought of it, but that makes sense. I've been on it for a year, and during that time have gained 10 pounds. I'll probably go off it at some point, but not just yet, so for now it doesn't really matter--I mean, it's not an "excuse". Even if the weight gain is from meds and not my "fault", that doesn't make my pants fit! LOL Plus, I'm not totally convinced that's the cause, or at least the only cause, as there are other factors likely involved. Anyway, that was food for thought, so to speak!

My office is really fattening! Today a co-worker brought in homemade brownies with walnuts and craisins in them. I resisted all morning (who eats brownies for breakfast?) but there were still a couple there after lunch. I had a really light lunch, so I thought...oh why not. Bad idea. I went ahead and logged the brownie in my food diary as the highest-calorie brownie in the search engine, b/c that's what it feels like! Dense, heavy, nutritionally bankrupt, and not good for my blood sugar.
The thing is, I wouldn't go out and buy a brownie. Nor would I make them at home. The only reason I ate it was because it was there! This is going to be tough for me--people in my office love to bring in goodies, and then act hurt if you don't try them. I suppose I could have had a bite so as to compliment the cook without eating the whole huge thing, though. I guess the bottom line is that my office is a very unhealthy place and I need to realize that there's going to be some sort of carbalicious treat in the kitchen more often than not, but that doesn't mean I have to mindlessly consume it. Now I feel like my day's been thrown off; good thing I have Zumba later.

I record my exercise on introPLAY and think it would be a bit too obsessive to record it on here as well, so I'm just using this site for the food side of things. Maybe when my introPLAY league ends I'll switch everything over to this site.

Yay! Making good choices all week = down a pound. Now I just need to stay on track. I am really proud of myself for passing "the weekend test": eating out with my husband twice for dinner and once for Sunday brunch without getting off track. We went to our favorite local bar last night and I had red wine, a big salad, and crispy tofu. Tasty and healthy--and I didn't eat a single one of his fries. This morning we went to our usual Sunday brunch place, and I got an egg white omelet instead of my usual whole-egg one, and fruit instead of toast or other carb side. I don't feel deprived; I feel smart.
The one thing that is tricky is finding good equivalents on here, since they don't have our local restaurants. I can always find something similar, but I guess my calories are a close approximation rather than exact. My food diary makes it looks like I somehow went to both Bob Evans and Trader Joe's for brunch, instead of neither. But that was what they had for an egg white and veggie omelet and tempeh, so...the name-brands are wrong but the food should be about right.
