December was....well December with lots of baking, cooking and of course...eating. Despite pulling back on restaurants and get togethers with COVID spiking, there were plenty of opportunities to bake and deliver to friends and family and my two year old Granddaughter loves fresh baked bread everyday...which I still love also along with gobs of butter!!

Overall my weight "spiked" to a high in the 227's a few times in December after major indulgences and long windows, but quickly came back in to line with a few days of shorter eating windows. I've got this and I understand how my body works now. I no longer feel out of control or helpless or obsessed about food.

I'm really happy with ending 2021 in the 220's and looking forward to seeing "One-derland" sometime in 2022...in time, as my body decides.

Synopsis of things learned in 2021 living an IF lifestyle for 40 weeks in 2021.

1. Minimum 20 hours per day fasted to lose weight. Minimum 16-18 per day to maintain.

2. Nothing is off limits, but I can't stand the taste anymore of flavored coffee creamers, highly processed cakes, muffins, donuts etc

3. I've always loved veggies, but never craved them and I regularly crave my delicious salads, roasted veggies and warm delicious soups!

4. I achieved "appetite correction" in 2021. I no longer obsess about foods, I can make a cake, cut a slice, eat a few bites then stop not because I'm forcing myself, but because my body no longer wants any more cake.

5. I still have to be careful of "diet" thinking taking over. When I over indulge, my brain immediately starts to think of what I need to restrict the next day when the real answer is "nothing"...I just need to eat to satiety within my window and then fast for 20 hours. Rinse, repeat.

6. I did IF for 40 weeks in 2021. 40 weeks!!! I've never followed a diet or food plan for more than 12 weeks in the past. And the 12 weeks were alway miserable, white knuckle affairs that ended with guilt, recrimination and misery. Thank you IF community, especially Gin Stephen's books and podcasts for showing me the way that works for me!

Happy New Year Everyone!!

2021 will be my best year yet, one day at a time!!

Good morning and Happy post Thanksgiving.

Hope everyone had a blessed and safe holiday.

Mine was safe and I have many blessings to be thankful for, but it was stressed by the presence of certain family members who add a certain amount of drama to the proceedings,

But, I wanted to record that my weight the day of Thanksgiving was 223.4 and today it was 225.8.

Not wholly unexpected given that there were three kinds of stuffing to sample, two kinds of potatoes and pies and cakes galore.

But what was different this year is there was no guilt, no food obsession or uncontrollable cravings, no deals with myself (I'll eat this today and never eat it again!!) no, "I'll start my diet tomorrow.", no asking myself if I SHOULD eat this or that and my size 18 jeans were super loose before dinner and were still falling off me after dinner.

Will need to dig out. my old 16's and soon my 14's.

I ate a pretty normal amount of food. sampling many dishes. I did eat past the point of "appetite correction" because after all it IS Thanksgiving and some of the dishes don't get made very often. My window was longer than usual, but because of the ZOE experiments, my windows have been longer the last two week.

Regarding ZOE, I took off my blood sugar monitor yesterday morning. The monitor turned itself off in the morning as the 14 day experiment was over and I removed it. I'll await. my report (supposed to be delivered within 6-8 weeks!!

I'm excited to greet this day with peace and calm. The first post Thanksgiving day that I have greeted without any residual post Thanksgiving guilt.

I've already planned to attack left over Turkey and cranberry sauce when my window opens because that's what I want!! I ate a lot of stuffing and potatoes yesterday and my body craves the balance.

And pumpkin pie might make the cut too.

All of it "window worthy" and all of it delicious!

Blessings and be well,

-Michelle
