At last, normal ankles and calves. I was sick with a very weird G.I. infection last week. I had massive amounts of gas and everything I ate turned to liquid diarrhea. I finally called Dr Duncan on day six. She couldn't identify the problem, insisted on a Covid PCR test, and recommended I only use Gasex and not Imodium. I had my last bout of diarrhea just before speaking to her and the gas dissipated over the next 24 hrs. I told Dr Duncan that she scared the bug away. lol
I had been unable to attend the exercise classes last week but was back on target this week. I am so glad to be able to attend this class. I can feel a tremendous difference in my strength and muscle tone. I have much better bladder control since I started this program. I actually walked around the yard using two canes last night. I want to be closer to normal as I progress with this.
Rick is instrumental in my ability to attend as he drives me to every class, despite feeling unwell himself. I hope that he gets the health he needs in order to get back to a reasonable quality of life.

OMG! I haven't seen this side of 200 lbs in over 2 years.
I have edema in my feet and legs to my knees and even with an occasional extra 40 mg of Lasix the swelling stays there stubbornly. I had tried Dr Steve Gundry's miracle repair for leaky gut for about 4 weeks. During that time I had trouble with constipation, bloating like never before. The edema began during that time, along with this massive increase in my weight , a jump of 6 1/2 lb. I don't even recall a weight gain OR loss of this much ever in my life. So much for feeling better and losing weight! I feel like crap and am very discouraged.
So I am sending Total Restore back to Dr Gundry for a full refund of $150.
I have developed a burning sensation in my mouth, with my teeth feeling very metallic. I have stopped eating Greek yogurt and blueberries to see if they were the cause of this. I am returning to Ancient Grains bread, bananas and peanut butter, trying to keep consistency and blandness in my diet. More veggies, less carbs, no chocolate or candy, reducing the amount of frozen yogurt for dessert. Hopefully, I will be able to re-lose the weight I gained and at least return to my pre-surgery weight of approximately 195 lb, with no bloating, edema, and consistent gentle bowel movements.
Sigh! Here we go again ... another "battle with my weight", as Rick so aptly put it. He said that "I had battled with my weight for as long as he had known me". He's right in part. Actually it has been since puberty ... when I became a woman.
I am more active now that I joined Frail to Fit exercise class. It is a twice weekly 12 week class through the Geriatric Program at HSN. From there I advance to a maintenance program at Finlandia indefinitely. And, BONUS, this is all under OHIP!
It is challenging but works in my favor being in the afternoons.
I have to continue on with it as I am very sedentary at home and must exercise or totally fall apart.
My bladder and uterus are dropping but already I see a difference in my urine retention after just three classes.
My right knee is riddled with arthritis and it is a "Catch 22" situation where I must make the muscles stronger, but in making them stronger the knee itself aches. I have to find the balance of just enough in order to serve both masters (aka problems).
So today is our 33rd anniversary. I am not up to going out but perhaps in a couple of days or even next weekend with the Mongrains as they didn't celebrate their 22nd anniversary on April 1st either.
That's it for now. Keep the faith, Laura. I will battle til I die. Such is my destiny.

day 3 of m-eslon decrease to 10-10-15. lots of neuropathic(nerve) pain. I can see fluid retention in my ankles and hands. I will continue for a day or two more, but will resume presume the previous dosage of 15-10-15 if pain and fluid retention doesn't calm down. in general I feel miserable and tired as sleep is disturbed even when using CPAP.
