I'm Married with 2 adult 'kids' & 3 Grand kids.
I've been a very fit and active but overweight person most of my life, even tho' I played tennis, netball & hockey for many years, My husband & I even owned a milk round when I was a young Mum, delivering milk to hundreds of houses for 4.5yrs, covering 26+ miles per night 6 nights a week. I've always been active in my leisure activities as well as my work until the last 15 years where due to several long term health issues I have slowly become more sedentary and frustrated! I really have to shed some serious weight so I can a) have knee replacement surgery b) not 'blow out' one of my knees avoiding a wheelchair and c) get back to some of the things I love to do... Bush walking, Swimming, Gardening. I still try and push through the pain and do some things and I still go camping in the Aussie Bush but walking in it is no longer an option.
I DON'T LIKE - stereotyping people, Untidiness, Not finishing what you start and Blue cheese! Oh! and now the fact I have been ordered by the Drs to use a rolling walker and a walking stick!
I DO LIKE - Food (unfortunately), crafts, reading, playing cards & games, swimming, camping, fishing - especially surf fishing, gardening, restoring old furniture, having my hair dyed several different colours at once (Currently its Black, White & Purple!)my family and having FUN!

snacking
I am 58 and I too have had Bariatric Surgery (GS)and also struggle with late night snacking so what I've been doing is 'saving' something that I would eat through the day for when the 'snack attack' occurs. When I had my surgery I was told if I stick to 3 x 1/2 cup size snacks and 3 x 1 cup size meals I would lose weight regardless of what I put in them - so even when I'm having a 'binge' type day I don't exceed the portion sizes. but I have found the biggest solution to the late night snacking is GOING TO BED EARLIER! I too am a night owl but we are really eating to fuel our bodies to keep going into the wee hours, so have you tried going to bed when you get the urge to snack, even if you can't sleep - reading a book in bed or listening to music not only a distraction to your mental state but relaxing too. I'm trying to re form habits built up over many years so I do know it's not easy. Good luck & I hope you find your 'snack distraction'
