32 y/o who just got a wake-up call about my health (bad cholesterol, HTN). Lack of motivation has always been my issue in the past, but now focused on eating healthier and exercising to drop weight.

cant live without my salt - salt substitute
All of the advice is great about how to watch that sodium intake - sodium is an electrolyte that we need to function (important to heart function!!), so make sure that you are getting an adequate amount of sodium. Avoiding processed foods (aka the easy stuff - frozen meals, soups, pickles) will make a big difference. In regards to Sunshine's post, sometimes cravings do mean that you're missing some essential element. If you aren't taking a multiple vitamin, I would suggest starting - just a general one. Most Americans (in general - not everyone) don't eat enough variety of foods to get all of those vitamins and minerals.

Calorie intake (daily)
FS gave me 2200/day - I agree with you, seems way too high. Via the iphone app I use for logging daily (for a goal of losing 2 lb/week the max calories per day was 1380). I'm using this and have changed that in FS.
