Eating at restaurants can be so hard to do sometimes, but it's amazing how much easier it is when you have the tools of this site. See, a major weakness of mine with eating healthy is that I often do something wrong, and then, since I already messed up, I just keep eating badly for the rest of the day and try to get myself to believe I'll start fresh tomorrow. Well, that usually winds up with me have a week of bad eating, so I'm really trying to stop that.

Today I knew I was going to Texas Roadhouse. I even knew what I wanted to order. I went on this site and found the items (what I couldn't find I added to their archive of food) from the TR menu this morning. This way I could eat the rest of the day knowing what I'd need to save for the night.

Well, it actually worked! I did make a mistake or two during the day, such as having too light of a lunch, which meant I was famished long before dinner time. However, I did learn from it and know for next time to eat a bit more. When dinner time did come round and we went to Texas Roadhouse I actually managed to do surprisingly well. I managed to keep under my set calories for the day, and I did it at a restaurant! This is pretty much unheard of for me.

Yet, I am still only human, so I made a teensy error. What got me was the rolls that come with the food. I'd forgotten to check to see how many calories they were (later I found out they were a whopping 227 kcals per roll!) and I did go over how many calories I want to ingest in a day. However, Fridays are my "free" day, the one I let myself go over my normal calorie intake, so to only be about 15% over my limit (about 300 kcals) is something I find a great achievement.

Plus I played around two hours of tennis today, so I'm hoping that balances out the extra food I ate, lol.

I'm finding more and more that the healthier I eat, the better I feel. In the past I'd eat a lot more on my "free" day, and I'd often feel almost like I had a hangover the next day. Hopefully I can stick with this as I've been able to become a workout fiend, but eating the right portions has always been a struggle for me.

Nothing would be more tiresome than eating and drinking if God had not made them a pleasure as well as a necessity. ~Voltaire
