I think I've been losing more because I'm going crazy on produce. It's like, I've rediscovered vegetables. And then last night I read an article linking fiber to weight loss. I've been eating a couple raw carrots per day, also steamed with sugar snap peas, mushrooms and heirloom tomato salad with the balsamic dressing and a pinch of parmesean. I think it's tempting to steamroll (pun intended) right over the veggie odds and ends you're supposed to eat with the plan because it does take planning and shopping...but it's so important. I just discovered swiss chard, and sauteed for 5 minutes with garlic it is amazing! My husband is also eagerly shoveling in all the veggies so he's getting healthier too. I think the secret is to spend a little more for the good stuff -- organic, grown close and in season.

Had my fourth weigh-in today since I started the plan. So far my weigh-ins have been -8, -2, -3, -4 for a total of 17 lbs. I only worked out twice last week so I'm surprised to shed 4 lbs. I said I thought it might still be water weight and my consultant said probably not after 4 weeks. So...bonus...it was fat! My ritual before each weigh-in is a (concerning?) journey into my deepest level of OCD. For laughs, I'll go ahead and disclose the order of things. First, I eat my JC breakfast but not the fruit/milk. Then, I work-out. Next, I shower and thoroughly dry my thick hair. I make sure to wear the same thing every week too. Then I go weigh in, and carry on with the day. This probably sounds nuts but I never realized before my trainer told me that what often causes difference between home scale and doctor's office is our clothes. A normal day's wear (without jacket or stuff in pockets) weighs 5 lbs. I've got my Jenny Craig "weigh in wardrobe" down to 1.2 lbs due to the lightweight crocs. Hey, whatever works right?

I started Jenny Craig about a month ago and it's been going ok; I've lost 17 or 18 lbs so far, depending on the time of day :) It has been hard for me to kick up the exercise. This weekend I let my sister-in-law talk me into hot yoga and I've been exorcising bad "chi" out of my body ever since--it seems to be fighting it's way out by way of a persistent headache and body aches as finely tuned, as say, one's tiny pinky finger so sore she can barely lift it. Seriously, I have a child and I think birthing him was easier than an hour of hot yoga. I'm not sure if that is going to be a repeat for me, but never say never. The upshot--in that single blow to my body's water : other stuff ratio--I tihnk I lost 3 lbs. I think I'll stick to the treadmill for the rest of the week. I've found that working out 3-4 times a week has helped stimulate higher-than-average weight loss. I think it will get more challenging, though, when I get down about 20 more lbs.
