Wow...As good as I ate today, I'm sure I blew it a bit even thinking I could touch some alcohol...I keep telling myself it's football season...What's watching some football without a beer? (At least I'm not eating the tortillas & salsa)...Anyway I hate light beer, but bought one at lunch today...Any Eagle fans out there???? Anyway, of course the waitress brought 2 to the table only to tell me there's a 2 for one special...Oh great! Hahahaha....Of course my team's losing at this point and the fiance decides he's paying the bill and leaving...Doesn't ask anyone else's feelings on the matter, just a matter of fact statement and he leaves...Leaving me, my mom and step dad behind...Part of me wants him to go if he's just going to sit there and be miserable, but the other part wants him to hang out with me and have a good time with me...I'm truly fun to be with...I'm a good conversationalist and pleasant to be around...Oh well...He left...Now I order something stronger...Guess it's my fault that I introduced him to football in the first place...Men! Hmmmmpff!

Another great day at the gym! I really love the power lift class that I take every Saturday followed by spinning...It starts my weekend off right :) I take it right along with my step dad...He is often the only guy in the class, but somehow I don't think he seems to mind ;) Thanks Allan for inspiring me! I think this challenge is getting easier...

Now break out your blenders everyone! We have to get this extra weight off! It is unhealthy, unsightly, and uncomfortable.
Let's put an end to this insanity!!! Here are some delicious protein shake recipes...
You can tweak them or create your own...
(Replace dairy with soy if you like.) They are super easy, and very healthy...(Some are healthier than others...These are just ideas...)
Start your morning with one of these and you'll be feeling more energetic and lean in no time.....
Drink lots of water with lemon throughout the day....Eat clean and sensibly with lots of vegetables and healthy proteins, nuts and seeds.....Try to eat mini meals throughout the day... Get your lazy butts to the gym or just get the heck off the couch! It doesn't cost money to be active! Get moving! Much success to everyone!

Peanut Brittle Protein Shake
This is a delicious favorite I discovered quite by accident as I sat staring at my "boring" vanilla protein powder and wanting something sweet. This mimics peanut brittle only in taste. It won't send your blood sugar soaring and it's a fun way to get in some healthy unsaturated fat.
Ingredients:
2 scoops vanilla protein
1 tbsp sugar-free instant butterscotch pudding mix, dry
1 tbsp natural peanut butter, chunky
8 oz. cold water or lowfat milk.
3-6 ice cubes
Directions:
Add all ingredients to blender, blend, and serve. I like to add the peanut butter in last so it stays a little chunky, just like the peanut brittle it is replacing.

Orange Creamsicle:
1 to 2 scoops of vanilla protein powder
6 to 8 ounces of water
4 to 6 ice cubes
1 to 2 peeled oranges
Mix in a blender on medium for 1 minute. Pour into a tall glass.

03 October 2008

Today was a busy day from the moment I woke up...
Friday is deadline day at the office, so it's a fast paced day with no time for anything other than getting the task at hand completed...
My 3 week old George Foreman Grill bit the dust(?)and preparing lunch wasn't happening today...Ran out the door with coffee in hand...No time for even mixing up my favorite apple pie ala mode protein shake or frying up some turkey bacon...I grabbed some string cheese and some almonds and ran out the door...The phone didn't stop ringing for the first few hours in the office, but I managed to order some homemade chicken salad with onions from the local gourmet deli...I drank some of my green drink throughout the day...I feel like I should be eating healthier, but today was all about convenience....First plan of action tomorrow is to replace my grill...I have been reminded today that you need to PLAN your meals...Sunday I will grill up some chickens...Stock up on some quick easy grab and go veggies, and hard boil up a dozen eggs...Stock up on bagged salads...
Thank Goodness my cravings are in check or this day could have ended up as a diet disaster...Preparation is definitely important...Well, lots of housework to do...Not really feeling the energy :) Hope everyone's feeling happy and strong! I find it's getting easier...
God Bless...
