That's great! I am never able to have enough potassium in one day. Today I am at 38% of my daily requirement. I can't drink coconut water nor can I eat avocadoes. This is impossible! Potassium is important!

I definitely recommend taking a supplement if you are really far from RDI of potassium! I had no idea that it had such a huge impact.

Most supplements are only 100 mg far from our requirement. I did finally read that perhaps the ratio of sodium and potassium is very important. We should have twice as much potassium. Given that most people take in too much sodium then it would make sense to put the minimum of potassium requirements so high. I did like the article however there were some major mistakes in it and I am wondering how much in the article is correct. Based on it I think that if I take in 1500 mg of sodium, I could try to reach 3000mg in potassium. I went to a site and entered potassium rich food. One acorn squash, 2 sweet potatoes, 2 glasses of orange juice (I`m avoiding right now because of the sugar) , 2 bananas and I'm not sure if I added anything else. I did not reach the minimum for potassium and I was up to close to 1000 calories. It`s also too much food and impossible to eat every day. I don't know how this affects a Keto diet as I do not follow Keto and only look for what pertains to me at this point.

Yes that is about right. My dr has me take 1000-1500 mg of potassium a day while dieting, separate from what’s in the multivitamin. Then, the electrolyte liquid for water also has a bit in it. I didn’t even think about why he wanted me to take the potassium on top of the multi. I assumed muscle cramps or whatever lol. So, I hadn’t been taking them for a while. With just my supplements/vitamins alone, I’m hitting around 1500. Then add what’s in the water enhancer. I am keto also and bananas aren’t allowed right now. It takes a lot of food to reach our RDI for potassium. If I could lower my sodium, I would do that because it does have an effect on the potassium needs. But I have super low BP and need the sodium. I’ve found that it’s easier to find high mg of potassium if you specifically look for potassium gluconate. That is what my dr has me on

Oops. I meant to say, my potassium supplements are 500mg each

Thank you for sharing about the potassium gluconate. They don't seem to have it in our stores (I'm not in the US) but amazon sells it with 550mg. I will purchase them today! I would rather get it from food but I just can't reach the minimum. You sound like you have a very good doctor! I'm also low on sodium and need to find a way to get to 1500mg per day! Thanks again for sharing!
