Sandy701's Journal, 27 April 2012

Church commitment this morning, so no walking for exercise. BUT...I headed to the gym after the church thing and hopped onto the elliptical for just a bit over half an hour (but in 2 sessions).

Also good news...the pool is up to 82 degrees naturally, so by putting on the heater after I got home, it should be comfortably swimmable later today!

Sam's was one of my stops yesterday and it appears they're no longer going to carry the fiber capsules I'm used to using. I had begun to re-think their use anyway, as the dosage is SIX capsules for a measly 3 g. of fiber, although the 6 caps are just 10 calories total. Still, it doesn't seem like that great a bargain. So, I opted to try some chia seeds instead (from Publix, not Sam's). They're less fiber per calorie, but they have good fat and some protein, as well. Hope I don't end up growing a "fuzzy" sheep or a funky-haired guy's head in my gut!!! LOL!

Ahhh, the pool, how I miss ours from the old house in Napa. Here, near San Francisco, it's really too cold for one. Enjoy yours!

Gigi...DH and I may have a disagreement when the time comes to retire. His automatic response is "no pool," but he truly does enjoy it, even though he's not a "real" swimmer. Not sure what we'll end up with when the time comes, so I try to enjoy one while I have it!

You live in the perfect place for a pool, it's sunny & warm...so, yes...enjoy it while you can & enjoy your swim!!

If you possible can, have a pool or at least one near by. As we get older the water is lovely for moving around in if nothing else. We go to Palm Springs once a year. I love the heat now and especially being in the pool. I feel so much better there.

By all means Sandy - we do hope you do not have a bad reaction to those Chia Seeds!

I crack up every time you talk about the temp of your pool water! We had an above ground pool until the ice storm of '08 got it, if the temps reached 72 degrees in the middle of July we were happy! Be careful with the seeds, I have trouble digesting (or really not digesting) any type of seed. Tummy aches!

Hope you get to enjoy your pool over the weekend! Ours isn't even open yet as we've been experiencing some very wet and cold weather these past few days. Lots of rain mixed with some wet snow(!), yuck! We're paying for the incredible weather we enjoyed in March, lol. Have a great weekend!

GG....as it turned out, only DH went in the pool today. Hopefully, I'll get in there tomorrow, esp. since it's supposed to be even warmer (at least mid-80's for air temp)and I think we're heading out to pick strawberries in the morning. I'll definitely be hot doing that!

Gigi...I've never been to Palm Springs.....that's southern CA, right?

Lisa, ice storms and AGPs generally don't mix and when they do the pools usually get the worst of it! So far, so good on the chia seeds (and some pumpkin ones too), but I will say that my tummy's pretty vocal!

Snow, Carol? Yuck. Been there, done that, and even still have the snow shovel! We move so much that I'm never convinced we'll never be in a snowy climate again, so I hang onto those shovels, mittens, fleece jackets, parkas, etc. Plus our family lives in colder states so we need to be prepared if we should visit in the winter(or even late spring!). While rain is good, I hope you can get back some of that March weather you had. Enjoy the weekend and try to stay dry!

Buffy, I've sprinkled a small amount in my eggs and on my salad and so far, they seem to be perfectly fine. But it's only been about 24 hours! Still plenty of time to grow a fuzzy sheep! LOL!

We still haven't opened our pool...just too much going on, and when we do have the time, the weather doesn't cooperate...sigh, can't win for losing! Have a great weekend, enjoy the berries and the pool! HUGS!

Hi there Stef. Yes, you certainly DO have a lot going on these days! And it's still amazing just how much you manage to get done anyway. There's still plenty of time until the really warm weather settles in in your part of the country. There's no law that says how soon one's pool must be open and there's no fine if you're "late!" LOL! It'll happen when it happens. Enjoy the weekend and take care of yourself even in the midst of all that you do for others.

Sandy, you are right of course, but it just seems like I am not getting anything done. It will come in time.

Everytime I see your weight history and your loss, it encourages me. You should be so proud.
