kingkeld's Journal, 25 April 2012

I did great yesterday.

I'm just a tiny bit above my comfort zone, but my body doesn't seem to have discovered it. I feel great!

Yesterday, I had pretty sane food choices all the way, even if my lunch was a frozen dinner - it was okay on calories, had real pieces of chicken breast and tasted awesome.

I did have a few cookies, but I had plenty of room to spare within my RDI, so I'm okay with it. I gotta have a little wiggle room, as you know, and I intend to enjoy it. I even had room for smoothies in the evening.

Yesterday, I was so tired all day. I skipped the bike in the morning, as I simply couldn't find the energy. I felt that I was dragging my feet all day, and Wife and I ended up going to bed at 7:30 PM last night. She was equally tired. Not sure what it is. Everyone at work were complaining about the same thing too. Is something in the air?

Today, I again had a hard time waking up. Again today I will skip the bike (at least for now), but I will see to it that my calorie burn today WILL exceed 3000, as always. It's important to me that I get up there. I feel that I am being at least relatively active when I have a 3000+ calorie burn. I don't want to end up being a couch potato again. Ever.

Yesterday, without doing much more than my work standing up and generally be active doing what I do, I made it to 2988. I'd say it's close enough. It will be more of the same today, I think. I still don't feel that I have much energy when I compare to my normal days. Thinking about that, though, I do realize that compared to my energy level 18 months ago, I'm in amazing shape. I've come SO far, and changed so much.

Sometimes I can barely recognize myself, neither physically or mentally. I mean, I'm always gonna be good, old Kingkeld, but I feel like I'm a super optimized version of myself, better in pretty much every aspect. It's an amazing feeling.

I see so many positives compared to back then:

I am of course only half the size.
I am in physically better shape.
I am happier.
I am stronger.
I am healthier.
I have a better job.
Wife and I are still doing amazing (no change there!)
...even kitty cat is more snuggly with me, as my belly doesn't take up all the room on my lap.

I think this will qualify as a "thankful" list for today too, huh? :)

I got an e-mail from the hospital yesterday. I wrote to them, asking about the waiting time for my surgery, and if there was a way to go to a different hospital to do it, to not have to wait. In Denmark, we have that option, usually if there is more than 30 days of wait time for surgery. However, it seems that this is the only hospital in Denmark (remember, we're a tiny country) that offers this surgery. So I will have to wait for it. However, they did say that even if the official wait time is 4-5 months (which would land me in August or September) they expect to offer me surgery in June. No date set yet.

Suddenly the whole thing moved a LOT closer. Scary. I'm looking forward to having it done, though. Get ready to finally say I'm FINISHED with this part of the journey. Maintenance is already well on it's way, even if I'm still experimenting and getting my footing on it. Looking back, I've been maintaining more or less all year, so I have no worries that I'm doing good.

I tend to be very critical with myself when it comes to reaching my goals, and I think this is one of the reasons that I keep (over)analyzing how to maintain. I'm okay with that, though. I think it keeps me on my toes, and I need that. I'll probably need to be on my toes forever. Not at all a bad thing for me.

Today will be an easy day at work. I have a class/meeting all morning, and then possibly another longer meeting in the afternoon. No clients. Nice. I do wish I could skip the meetings as I have a lot of administrative stuff to do that HAS to be done before the end of the month, and that date is closing in fast. I'll probably have to stay late a few days, or go in on Saturday or Sunday and work without interruptions. We'll see how far I make it.

This morning, I'm checking out "Shine A Light" from The Rolling Stones. It's a fun concert, but honestly - I'm surprised that the Legendary Stones aren't better live. I was never a huge Stones fan, but since The Black Peanut has a few Stones song in our setlist, I figured I should check them out. It's an okay show, but nothing amazing.

I did find one song that I didn't know, and that I thought was really fun. I think I'll suggest this one to play with The 'Nuts.

What do you guys think?

Oh, and I remember you guys asking to hear more from us. I have a few pretty reasonable recordings from last weekend. I'll post some of it one of these days. Be warned. :)

I hope you all have a wonderful day. I know I will. Life is good!

Good job on the standing! I do a bit of walking around at work, I even go with the coworkers to smoke, to get out of my chilly, stuffy workspace. I can see my activity level going up, and my body feeling the need to do it. I have bones sticking out when before there were none. Its great!

Your comment made me smile, JP! I too go out "to smoke". I think it's healthy to get away from your work space now and then, and besides - why should we be cheated out of a break just because we don't have that nasty habit of smoking, right? :) I know what you mean with bones sticking out. It's weird. I found my Adam's Apple the other day. Who knew it was hiding in there! LOL!

It does us good, to occasionally look back, and realise how far we have come. You have done amazingly well.... You DEFINATELY don't want to go back, to that dark place again :-)

Yeah for a closer surgery date!!! June is right around the corner. I think we all have low energy days. My hardest day of the week is Friday. I'm always so tired by then. Keep analyzing because you help us see things a little differently.

When I'm having a 'stuck in a rut' day, I always come read your journals for a little pick-me-up :) You truly are an insightful inspiration!

Now, if you decide to start weight training after the surgery, just wait until you open that whole can of worms. You'll love the feeling. (until you decide that you want to keep getting stronger and add muscle mass, and then you have to wrestle with mental hurdles of deliberately overeating) But in the meantime, keep enjoying the ride. Progress doesn't end once the fat is gone!
