This is the bounce from the chicken fried pork steak at work. I tried to scrape off as much of the breading as I could, but doing that, it became apparent that the ground pork had been mixed with rice and who knows what other carb-y fillers. It also let me know by my left elbow breaking out into blisters, and the now well identified gut pain that yes, it is NOT your imagination, your old body no longer tolerates the extra gluten / roundup contamination in the wheat. So while that is considered by others a good lunch day, for me it will be a trip to the car for a meal bar.

Good thing you had a backup plan 😉, you are right that unfortunately as we age that our bodies can't eat some of the food we used to.. not to mention that our taste changes 😱

Could be water retention, too - never discount that. What else had you been eating to work around the gluten sensitivity?

I work around the gluten by not eating anything that I can identify has wheat or wheat products in it. Also by avoiding corn & most of the other wheat like products - rye, barley, oats etc. Rice, in the small amounts I consume on low carb has not seemed to bother me so far. I figure the weight gain is indeed water retention, which does not bother me much. It's hot, and I am taking self defense classes now, so I don't mind carrying half a gallon or so of "extra" water. How many calories, I wonder, lol does each hour of practicing basic moves like palm strikes / elbow blows and kicks burn? *whew*!
