My gym has been shut down for two weeks! TWO WEEKS. The hotel that houses my gym has been taken over by some sort of convention. I can't/won't run or jog outside because I get shin splints easily. But I suppose I will do a lot of lunges, crunches, etc. at home until I can get back into the gym. Grr.

Go for walks! It's not as hard on the legs. Get a workout dvd from the library or buy one. There are tons and some are really fun. You can try something new. Think of this as an opportunity to spread your workout wings and try some new stuff.

Walking is really the only option, sadly (I find it mind-numbingly dull). My living situation is complicated and restricting, so I guess I need to find a way to make walking interesting.

That's the attitude! Keep going! I always try to turn my walks into something I need to do - like needing to pop to the shops (but I don't go to the nearest shop!) or hand-delivering a letter or birthday card, or walking to work, etc. The walking then seems to have more purpose to it and has the added benefit that you tend to walk faster too. Hope this helps. :)

Definitely helps! I've realized that I'm very similar in the way that I need to have a purpose. I can't go for a walk for the sake of walking. There's a little shop nearby-ish, it's a 60 minute walk round trip. Perfect! =)

Great! Glad to help. I just went for a 60min walk with my daughter to collect my prescription, pop to the sweetshop to get a few sweets for the kids and a card for someone's birthday and to make an haircut appointment at the hairdressers for the kids. Walking is sooo much easier when there's a purpose to it.... :)
