mim45's Journal, 02 February 2017

I made it two weeks. Exercising 30 min every day is very difficult for me. I find a million other things to do and have to force myself to do something. Some people are addicted to exercise....not me!
I live in the tundra (Minnesota) and outdoor exercise is out of the question for me. In the good six months of the year, April through Sept (maybe October) walking works for me. I am 66 years old, retired, and gaining weight. The possibility of falling on the ice is really scary ... 4 years ago I fell and broke my wrist. I do yoga which is not gonna do anything for my heart rate and then I am trying to do a 30 min workout on YouTube. If I continue exercising after the challenge, I think that is what will help me lose the weight.
Regarding food (which is the culprit in weight gain), I am following the calorie counter in FS and very rarely have I exceeded the allowable calories.
160.0 lb Lost so far: 5.0 lb.    Still to go: 20.0 lb.    Diet followed reasonably well.

I totally get where you are coming from. Exercise in the cold can be difficult. I am not a runner or a walker myself and I also live in Minnesnowta. I however like to ride my bike, indoors and out all year round. I don't recommend it for everyone, but in the summer we have some of the best trails you can find in the country. Do you visit a gym? Are there any groups beside the yoga group that you can join for dancing (there's nothing like a fast Polka to get the heart racing) or other activities in your area?
