Rincewind42's Journal, 27 December 2016

Hit the scales today for the first time in nearly a month and at last I have a downward shift. I managed to lose 1 kg over December even though it was the festive season with chocolates and cakes being regular on the menu.

The university exams are all finished, just need to mark the papers and then it's two months of holiday. If the snow keeps away, I should be able to get plenty of exercise in.

Below is a typical breakfast here in China. That's soy milk, steamed pork buns and soy sauce.
228.4 lb Lost so far: 31.7 lb.    Still to go: 41.0 lb.    Diet followed poorly.
losing 0.2 lb a week

I could eat a couple dozen of those pork things. Will have to mandate some Chinese food in the first month of the New Year.

I'm with Phil on this one. Everyone is telling me of a Chinese restaurant at the mall where I grew up. It is upscale, and people talk about some dumplings they have that are "off the charts"!

@iulani congee (rice porridge) is popular and my daughter loves it. I find it to be sometimes a hit and sometimes a miss. At breakfast, the congee is just rice in water - rather uninspiring. However, some congee can be complimented with fruits, nuts, pickled veg or even meat, which liven things up and make it much more akin to a European muesli or a thick soup.

Interesting! I'm fascinated with how different cultures are regarding their normal food behaviors (what, how much, when they eat). Congrats on the weight loss!
