I have noticed every time i get on the cross-trainer I gain weight... Is that because i drink more water? If that is the case it will come off eventually but I thought doing exercise (cardio) it would come off straight away. I understand a gain in weight doing weight training as muscle weighs more then fat.

No, it's called muscle edema. Your muscles retain water to help them heal. When you exercise, your muscle fibers get little tears and water help them heal building new muscle. It's temporary but comes back when you start new exercise or change your intensity. Google "why the scale lies" for some insight in to water weight gain. You can actually go up on the scale when weight training but down in clothes sizes. Muscle is more dense than fat and takes up less room, so we get smaller but the scale can show on small gain. Focus on the big picture. Losing fat is way more important than the scale because you can be skinny and carry to much jiggly fat. The weight will come back down. Your doing fine.

Thats for that, great to know. I did not think you gained muscle on a cross-trainer/cardio machine. I guess i should really be taking measurements. The results help me keep going, so in seeing a gain it doesn't help so if i see a gain but a decrease in measurements it will be a gain any way.
