Sore muscles mean they are retaining water (they get little tears and water replaces the tears to help them heal). Any kind of lifting can cause this. It is only temporary and will go away (until you do more lifting). Drink some extra water. To actually build muscle, you need weeks of training with weights (unless your job requires you to lift all the time). You'll be fine.

Well thank you for the little tidbit Suzi, I will actually store that for later knowledge to drop on someone else =).. I am trying to push the water.. lifting isn't a completely normal thing in my job, I work in a photo lab part of a store, we were short staffed and had many projects last night so I turned into a mover. =) couldn't hurt my waistline to do that much up-down movement. =) Thank you. Dar-Wow, shoveling snow is supposed to be a GREAT workout, you just be careful!! and make sure you're all warm and snuggly inbetween! I hope you are feeling better, I have seen your weightloss chart, I think you're doing great! Keep up the great work!!!As for me, I have been on Atkins for a month this past Friday (2/5) and have lost 17 lbs, but with my little gain today I'm back to 16lbs.. which is fine. I spent a good week or two just bouncing up and down between 12,13, and 14lbs lost just constant everyday it would go up and down and up and down.. but i'm glad to be past those numbers. life is very busy and that's partially to blame for my major weight gain to begin with.. I was always on the go and I always ate fast food (the wrong kind of fast food) and when I wasn't at work I was so tired i would just lay on the couch from when I would get home til i would go to bed.. no real activity. But now.. I have changed all that, I still love my couch but I dont stay there every night I try to get some working out in there and always cook and plan my meals for the week! Okay i'm long winded I'll go now.

Stacy: Think about what you have been doing. If you were doing all that lifting and walking in a luxurious gym you would be like the workout queen or something. Lifting all that soda was a huge workout for your arms biceps, triceps etc. And all the walking- you probably covers miles. Excrcise is execise whether it is at a gym or at work. Remember muscle weighs more than fat and you sound like you are building muscle like an athlete.Good job on planning ahead with your meals and snacks. That takes time and you are showing a lot of determination. You are going to win this battle.
