cocobutt's Journal, 30 December 2011

Boy howdy, once sugar gets a foothold back in my diet, it is very hard to kick it. I need to call a priest or have my house cleansed. I'm fine up until mid-afternoon. Then the cravings start. I still have too many Christmas treats lying around. Yesterday I scarfed down a Toblerone bar that my daughter gave me. The package said 3 servings at 170 calories each. So I consumed 510 calories in 30 minutes. I wonder why I have no interest in sweets in the morning. If I felt like this in the afternoon, I wouldn't have a problem. What is it that changes about mid-day? Is it possible to recapture this lack of interest in sweets later in the day? I'll try to make a conscious effort to eat a string cheese snack and some nuts instead this afternoon and see if that helps.

It's 1:50pm and I'm having 2 boiled eggs, some lean turkey, and raw celery sticks, broccoli floret, and carrots. I did snack on nuts and dried cranberries earlier, and had a string cheese stick. I put the fudge out of sight. I need to dispel thoughts of going out to eat Chinese food tonight.

Good job with your afternoon eating so far. If you DO go for Chinese, stick with the steamed shrimp, greens, etc. Our local Chinese has lots of low carb, low fat, seafood, salad and chicken choices in the evening. I'm not low carb, so I usually have 1/2 cup of steamed rice, as well. You can do it Coco. I have faith in you!

Thanks, Jo! I managed to avoid the Chinese restaurant last night. Instead I got one of those rotisserie chickens from the grocery store and roasted some sweet potatoes and had some of my mom's leftover fruit salad. I went to bed feeling pretty good. I'm back on my vitamins again too; I had gotten out of the habit from being so busy over the Christmas holiday.
