Dropped out of the weight loss game, but now its time to jump back on the band wagon and give it a shot, once again.

Went to the doctor today, and my blood pressure was high, 160/90. I haven't as of yet had that much trouble with it, it fluxuated a bit here and there, but never that high. He told me to monitor it for a month and then he would see me then with all my data. So I have a month to get it down, lose some weight, and start living a healhier lifestyle again. Still taking my cholesterol medication. The exercising has been non existent, and the dieting has been less than healthy. I just became burned out on the exercising because I had taken it the extreme, 7 days a week, for a minimum of 2 hours each day maybe more. Instead of feeling better I was tired all the time.According to the doctors scale it looks like I have gained nearly 13 lbs, his scales are always heavier than my home scale, usually by about 5 lbs. So maybe instead of 13 lbs gained maybe I have gained 8 instead, either way weight gain is weight gain, which is never a good thing for people like me.

Oh well, I'm here to give it one more try. But, I must ask for everyones support, encouragements, and ideas, as I am stumped where to begin. I believe this place is the best place to come when you need help, everyone has always been there, and helped when they could. So Thank you everyone.

Welcome back! I had a similar feeling of hopelessness last May when I went to buy a dress for an upcoming wedding and I looked pregnant...seriously. I had given up on weight loss (I am 54, 5'5" and was around 220 at the time). Thought that I was destined to remain heavy, but the weight around my mid section was really bothering me! So, I turned to the new Atkins website and read. I read for days.....then plunged into Atkins, Phase I. I have lost over 30 pounds and feel SOOO much better. Many folks on Atkins have reduced blood pressure and cholesterol medications. Give it a read and see if it makes sense. For me, I was a sugar addict, so I was so excited that after three days I really lost my sugar cravings. That was huge! Anyway, blessings on your journey! There is a plan out there for you....read, read, read!

Thank you so much for your response. I am thinking of going back to the atkins because I did lose weight on it, and it wasn't that difficult to do. I hope the diet hasn't changed much within this year, I'll go to their website just to check it out again.
