Gastro Patient's Journal, 04 March 2016

Tried making low-FODMAP bread this week. Looks like a souffle that fell. Tastes okay. I'll try again and leave it to bake for longer time.

Have been on the low-fuctose diet for 3 weeks now. Another 3 weeks, then I can begin to experiment. Am taking lactase pills when I eat milk products and am avoiding a lot of things entirely. Whey, milk solids, etc. are in so many packaged foods, sigh. And...there's inulin and/or high fructose corn syrup in many dairy products--not fair!

Going to see a gastroparesis specialist today. He'll react to the surgeon's questioning the diagnosis.

Spring is coming. I look forward to gardening, although I'm going to have to work up some kind of garden stool to haul around, so I don't bend at waist while working--acid issues. I'll ask for one for my birthday!

I'm going to enjoy onion tops while they're in season and tender--that's a non-fructose part of the plant. Hubby plans to plant spuds this year, for me. We will cut back on the tomato plantation and the broccoli and brussels, but the cauliflower can be expanded.

Have begun planning a Tapas-Spanish Wine party for tomorrow night. I can use my failed bread as a base for cheeses, smoked salmon, more. And I'm trying a shrimp thing that should work.

My pants are loose on me these days. I still need the breadth for the swell-up time of day, but belly is less swelly than it used to be, by far.
