Sandy701's Journal, 17 October 2011

Beautiful day; cool (still t-shirt and shorts weather) at the start of my walk; walked 3.1 miles with both doggies. We might even hit record high temps today, as there's a cold front coming in within the next day or so that will drop us to barely 70 degrees as a high and into the 40's (BRRRRR) at night!

Back is doing better and I slacked off on the ibu's yesterday, except after dinner and then bedtime. DH told me last week that ibu can cause some water retention, but I hadn't noticed that. Last night, however, between 8PM and 8AM, I only lost 2.4 pounds. I was shocked. My typical trend would have been to lose about 4 pounds, as I tend to lose 1/3rd pound per hour at night and overnight, with food intake complete. (This has just been a little experiment of mine over the last several weeks to determine my normal rate of loss.)

157.0 lb Lost so far: 78.0 lb.    Still to go: 12.0 lb.    Diet followed reasonably well.

I am glad to hear that your back is doing better; IMO the less pills a person has to take the better! 40's for night time is really good sleeping weather...not so good for much else besides shivering (that burns calories!)? At least you are having a glorious day to enjoy today (I think I already have a bit of that cold front)! I was reading about your 2.4 pounds, twice actually, I am still confused maybe. What time do you do your weigh ins for recording on here?

Happy that you are feeling a little better. Am sure you are wise enough not to have done anything else to irritate it. I would love to lose 4 pounds a night, but usually average 2.

In the Atkins book they suggest if you are taking Ibuprophen for medication on a regular basis for arthritis, ets. to ask for a replacement. I know that it causes constipation in me! Reduces muscles contraction.

Glad your back is feeling better, I understand what that is like.....congrats on the weight loss, but like gg-girl I am also confused about that.

GG & Yvonne....my weigh-ins for recording are done first thing in the AM, when I get up and have used the bathroom. I've been weighing myself at various times throughout the day to get a feel for how my weight fluctuates during the day, hoping to glean some great insight - LOL!! Anyway, if I weigh myself at various times after dinner, I can pretty well forecast where I will end up the next morning! This morning, however, was a surprise.

Bren, I will enjoy the cooler weather, but I've got to find some warmer things that don't look like someone else's clothes! Have a good evening.

Lisa, somehow I missed that in the book. Luckily, this is a short-term malady (she says, crossing her fingers), so I'll just deal with it for the time being. Are the trees beginning to turn colors up in your neck of the country?

Buffy, the 2 pounds works for me too, as I'm often going to bed about midnight and doing that initial weigh-in about 6 hours later. Have you noticed that you don't need as much sleep on Atkins? I sure have. I used to sleep 10+ hours regularly.

yes, in southern NH where I am, it is just about peak. There are very pretty pockets of color right in my neighborhood. I heard that the season is not as colorful as in the past. We are supposed to have heavy rains this week, that will just about end the color.

Wow Sandy you are brave weighing all those times I don't think I could do it.....I am scared every time I step on the scale, so I would be hyperventilating lol.......I am so scared it has gone up.....

Yvonne, it's not so bad....I just think of it as a science experiment!! Of course, if it were typical for me to fluctuate 5-10 pounds, or more, on a given day, I don't think I'd even attempt this! LOL!
