kingkeld's Journal, 13 October 2011

This morning is a strange one. I'm in a funky mood, but I'm getting over it. I spent a good deal of last night pondering on work. Without going into too many tedious details, there is a LOT of work to do, and I am pretty new in doing it, so for me that means that there is a LOT to do and on the side line a LOT to learn, for me to be able to do it. And since I work with people, wrong decisions can make dire consequences. I love the job, but at times that can bring quite a lot of pressure.
So last night I spent thinking about all that, and what I can do to re-organize to feel that I have a better grip on things. I think I know where to start, and I just gotta go do it. It's gonna be a few hard weeks coming up, and that might mean somewhat less time spent here. Gotta find time for everything, and it all has to add up.
Of course that doesn't mean that I will in any way stop being here, or stop losing weight or anything silly like that. I will probably just not be as active in the forum and other places. I think it's good for me to write my journal, get some thoughts out and it will help me deal with some of the issues that I might come across. I know I have some GREAT buddies that follow my journal, just as I follow theirs, and that's something that I wouldn't want to miss for anything.
However, for me to fully function, I need my job to be as close to 100% satisfaction as I can get. That's my next target.

That being said, I do tend to take on new tasks constantly (something that I should probably get better at NOT doing!). Today I am meeting with a local guy, who needs help losing weight. I promised to have a talk with him and see if I can help him by using a Danish site just like FatSecret. The Danish site is a pay site (but very cheap - $2 per week), and doesn't have the social part as we do, but has ALL the Danish foods in there. I didn't know the site when I started my weight loss journey, and I would probably have ended up there had I known of it. It's easier to deal with all the localized stuff. However, they don't have a proper phone app, just a mobile website, and there is no flourishing community like we have here - and that is probably just as important for success. Trouble is, many people here are not comfortable enough with their English skills to fully dive into FatSecret and make it out okay on the other side. So the Danish website will be my weapon of choice in this little venture.

Also, I did lose another 100g of my re-gained weight. 200g more, and I'm back at my lowest - and I still have a couple of weigh-ins to go before Indulgence Day. I think I should be able to reach a new low and then some by Saturday. Let's see.

I did NOT make it to the gym yesterday. I was totally beat after work, and simply didn't have neither the energy or the mental capacity to go. I was sleepy after a bad night, and just wanted to go home. So I did. No gym today either, I work a 10 hour shift, and will go see the guy who needs help right after. So today is another long day.

I have, however, set up an appointment with a personal trainer/friend of mine for Sunday morning, where we will go through all the machinery at the gym, so I can learn more about using them. I gotta get going on putting some muscles onto those flabby arms. I hate batwings! :)

Have a great Thursday, everyone! Life is good!

Sounds like you have a great plan there about getting work sorted for yourself. I can totally see wanting a site with all the local food entered, as I have to enter virtually everything I eat manually and sometimes it is just too much work, so I just dont eat it! Which is good but I would like to choose what I eat bases on something else than if I have already entered it I choose it over something that needs to be entered with full nutritional data

Morning Kingkeld.... Being fairly "new" to new work is exhausting... Nothing is automatic, you have to think about every small thing, so I quite understand how it can take it out of you. Saying "no" is also very hard, particularly for someone like yourself, who loves to help people. However you must learn to use that word occasionally - a good start is to say "I can't manage it right now, however i will be available 'xxxxx'. Maybe it is something you can practise on a couple of small things, to get used to the feel of it. The benefit of being able to do this, puts you in control of your life and makes you feel strong and powerful - give it a go :-). It is something I used to have to practise myself, and also train other staff and managers to do, otherwise both myself and they took on too much and didn't do anything 100%.

@Sk1nny - that's good advice. The irony is that I preach it a lot more than I practice it - it's literally a part of my job. :) It's something I will work on. The other part, with pulling in more work outside my job is a hope to bring it to a higher level, and eventually life off doing that - so I have to do this, have to get going, just have to limit how much time I dedicate to it until I'm ready. I'll get there. Steady as she goes, Captain. Just like with the weight, loss - right? :)

:-) right Kingkeld... Funny how we find it easy to give advice to others, but crap at doing it ourselves lol ... Have a good day

Hi Kingkeld – you are doing the right thing – always important to find the right balance and not stretch yourself too thin. As much as I appreciate your regular encouragement and commenting on my journals, you need to take care of yourself first ;-). Be Happy!

Have you ever thought about a change in career....you'd make an excellent life coach...you'd still be helping people! You will be missed around here, but you'd turn up like an eagerly anticipated indulgence day, but without the water retention afterward...lol XX
