Visited the nutritionist this week. Could it be that I have been eating incorrectly my whole life? She had valid points, but it is quite an adjustment. The protein powder is hard to stomach and causes me to be a little nauseous. The smoothies are getting easier to drink - it is a texture thing, I am sure. The best thing is that I already have the best of tools here at FatSecret.

The new regimen is much easier during the week - it is easier to follow when I just pack what I should be eating. Being here at home will be much more difficult. I must be strong though - there is a lot at stake and my "numbers" are REALLY bad. It is early in the process - I am hoping to feel better, have more energy, and lose weight (of course!!).

I will spend part of today gathering recipes and making a menu so that it will be easier to comply. I just hope that my "food focus" will not make me too hungry!

Stay strong. The first two weeks, I've found, can be the hardest. You'll definitely feel hungry a lot more, but remember that your stomach will be shrinking during that time, and if you stick with it, soon you will find that the same amount of food might even become too much.

Was it a Registered Dietitian? I love getting combative with those folks! What were the points she made that you felt were good? I'm going to have to adjust my eating habits when I get closer to my goal weight. Not sure what sort of diet you're following but this holds true for all of them; fats and oils will satisfy your hunger and keep you from feeling hungry. Good luck with your journey, we're all different with different nutritional requirements!

Thanks for your comments! It helps me rationalize my way through this! Yes, Philmck, it was a registered dietician nutritionist recommended by my physician. I really don't have a leg to stand on when it comes to talking with them. Due to my weight and age, I struggle with cholesterol, triglycerides, and I have even been borderline pre-diabetic. Even after eating low fat and vegetarian for nearly a year, I still had what was considered high cholesterol. I had lost over 50 pounds; but divorce, family deaths, and single parenting sent me right back to my old ways. This is my attempt to make a permanent change. She told me that I needed to increase and regulate my protein intake throughout the day with 75 - 85% of my 80+ protein grams coming from meals and the other 15 - 25% coming from snacks. We talked about plant proteins (hence the hemp protein powder) and how that will help with my cholesterol. She also educated me about the good fats that will help me (avocado, almonds, walnuts, and edamame). I had completely avoided these when I was eating low fat/ vegetarian. Sadly, Tyetuery, this not my first time trying to make a major change - I know this all will just take some time and adjustment. Onward and downward (on the scale, that is!)

the powders made me sooo sick at 1st... I started with 1 scoop instead of 2, used almond milk and diluted with ice/water and sipped very slow , and had one every other day until i could ease my way into them. I also add the powder to stuff like natural peanut butter or yogurt.. hope this helps
