I don't know if anyone has experienced this but a few folk people can be something else. It seems to happen most frequently at church. I think it is because most of them only see me once a week and don't really know me that well. Even though I have been dieting and working out the last couple of years with a slow but steady weight loss, suddenly people are walking up to me and asking if I'm OK. They will say that they noticed that I have lost a lot of weight as if something was wrong with me. It's like they think I have lost all the weight at once. They don't know all the effort and discipline it has taken. Often it's the people the people who could stand to loose a few pounds and do not have any intention of doing so. I'm just saying...
156.8 lb Lost so far: 28.2 lb.    Still to go: 1.8 lb.    Diet followed reasonably well.

Yeah. I've experienced that. "Are you okay?" explanation "Oh, so you did it on purpose?" Oy. Also had one guy who is a real joker ask if I had a worm. :)

I think it's all because in these past few years there has been a blatant mass manipulation into believing that "fat is ok" "curvy (read rolls of fat) is beautiful" and "accept your body as it is". If people lose weight and eat healthy and live healthy, then the fast food companies, junk food producers as well as health system and Big Pharma would lose billions, thus the masses are made on purpose to believe that obesity is ok. So now we are getting to an absurd state of facts, when the ones who are leading a healthy life and are within the normal healthy weight limits are perceived as "not ok".

Yup, I've had the same experience. I find out that some people are asking around to see if I'm sick. Others say I've lost too much weight and shouldn't lose any more, or to make sure I'm doing things in accordance with my doctor's supervision (I have a better handle on my health and numbers than my doctor has ever had). But none of that bothers me, I take it as a compliment that I'm on the right track and the difference is noticeable. Keep up the good work John!

I can understand their concern... 3 yrs ago I lost a lot of weight at once and it was because I had cancer and didn't know it. I just thought I was doing well and watching what I was eating... perhaps they've had other things on their minds and hadn't been as observant, or just finally after a while decided to ask. Doesn't mean there is any malice or jealousy or oversight of your hard work.

I had that happen to me before too. I thought I was the only one. We are doing a "biggest loser contest" at work. Everyone asks me why I'm participating and says that I don't need to lose more weight. Well, I do and I'm still considered obese at 6ft tall and 228 lbs. That's why.

People asked that my friend too but I think it's because she was still wearing her fat clothes after she lost weight so it really does look like she lost weight fast and might be sick.

Dayberndt It's why we have a medical crisis system and not a medical care system. They're just a business. They'd rather tell us to come in and get it fixed rather than how to avoid the need for a fix. Of course health care is expensive - it's designed to create a demand, not provide a solution. I believe most people coming out of schools today have a far lower knowledge of health issues than years ago.

Nice that your progress is being noticed even if it is a bit awkward. You just keep doing what is good for you. You may be an inspiration for others who are ready to get healthier.

Nice progress. Congrats. Take it the positive way. People are finally noticing the changes. It has happened to me also. Some of them with real concern. I even joked about it. Followed their lines pretending I had not noticed I was losing weight for a couple of minutes. Then finally confessed I've been watching calorie intake and exercising for over two and a half months. Feel proud of yourself and your achievements but be aware that some of those people may be concerned for real.
