I have been back and forth on cal. and carb. diets and exercising and joined the gym 3 wks ago and now I am gaining weight so discouraged. Does anyone have any ideas what I can do to jump start my metabolism. I just don't know what to do that would work. I'm walking and jogging on treadmill and other machines also HELP!!!
175.0 lb Lost so far: 0 lb.    Still to go: 35.0 lb.    Diet followed reasonably well.

Hey AJ - DON'T GIVE UP! No sense in getting discouraged...you need to arm yourself with a PLAN. One that you like, one you can live with...and that way it will be one you will stick with! Go to the atkins.com site. Read about Induction. Look at the foods list. Use the tutorials. Read the what to do and what not to do. Then decide if you think this is for you! Otherwise, find another option. Counting calories can work for you but you have to have something to go by. Do some reading. Find the best plan for you... then keep coming back here, and continue to log your food. Let us know what you've decided. That way we can help you along the way!!!! Hang in there...only YOU can change your life...and YOU can do this!!!

Build muscle to increase your metabolism! Do some resistance weight training. Use this rule, do 12-15 reps, if you feel like you could've done one more, than add weight. If you can still do 12-15, add weight again for the 3rd set. Start with that weight the next and go through the process again. This will strengthen you and the way you feel!

Aj,js is right, read the book 'the new atkins for a new you' some of your foods are not allowed, sugar(honey),was that breaded chicken? tortilla? carbs should not be greater than 20, on the induction phase. And no potatoes. So I know you can do it just need to get the food list.
