Why does my body want to stay 145?I'm wondering what all of this is about. I've seen women older and younger, a mom or not a mom, health issues or completely healhty skinnier than I am. I feel as though the argument that my body needs to be this size is completely ridiculous. I want to fight that idea tooth and nail... But each time I drop below 145 I head back up, and not because of poor eating habits or changing routine. I simply cannot stay down at my original goal, and killing myself for a week to lose an extra pound is a continual fight. As long as I'm a size 8, I guess I'm happy, but I'd rather be on the small side of an 8 than on the big side of an 8, you know? Wish me luck...
145.0 lb Lost so far: 0 lb.    Still to go: 5.0 lb.    Diet followed reasonably well.

Sorry to be rude but what are you complaining about?! Your at a very healthy weight and at a very healthy size. The way you stated things makes it appear as though you are over obsessing about the numbers which may or may not be true, but if it is, stop. I would love to be 145 and I'm not even half-way to my goal of 150, yet I am happy with where I am with my weight at this moment and I look forward to losing even more. I don't mean to come accross that you should be complacent and just accept that you won't get below 145 because of course being complacent is the slippery slope that gets most people to gain weight in the first place. What I am saying is that you should love your body, and yourself no matter your size. You need to understand that the weight you are now is the weight you were meant to be at this time even though later on a slimmer you may be in your future. Embrace and be grateful for who you are now and look forward to what you will be very soon.

I am in exactly the same boat as you! Since January I have taken off 5 pounds, but that's a pound up a pound down all year! I can't get the scale below 142. Everyone at work tells me you must be at the weight you are supposed to be and I say no way. I was 125 pounds once, six years and two kids ago, lol, but I am determined to get there again. I have notice my clothes feel a bit looser since I have stuck to an exercise regimin, so may be losing inches, but I want the scale to go down too! I feel like I have to starve to lose a pound! Ugh! I am wishing you luck to get to the small side of 8. . .or big side of 6 ;) Wish me luck to!

Ok, I see that you are entering SOME of your food. From what you are entering you are eating lots of carbs and/or fat. You aren't eating enough protein. We need to see everything that goes into your mouth. Commit for one week of entering EVERYTHING that goes in your mouth. Empty calories are a killer. Do you drink soda? Do you drink water? etc. Also, you need to incorporate some exercise. I started off after weighing 150 much like you for 3 years. All I had to do was some serious analyzing of what I was doing to my body. Check out the info on the Hungry No More challenge. That info changed my life! EVER since I started following this diet challenge closely, which will be my diet from now on (except for the occasional dinner out off of dieting). It has completely changed the way I look at food. I don't just look at the calories or the fat or the carbs or the protein. I look at them together. Have a look at my diet calendar and you will see that I am never below 30% protein. I am never above 50% carbs or 20% fat. I hope this helps. BUT YOU HAVE TO DO IT. My best to you. It has worked for me.

I appreciate the comments. I really do. I've posted journals many times and not gotten this kind of response before, so this is great. First, I enter my food every day in a food journal at home. I don't always have time to put that information on the computer, too, and if I do I put it on the livestrong.com Daily Plate and not on this site. I find that there are several more options for food in the database and I don't have to enter in so many items when I track my calories. Second, I do eat enough protein, at least, I think I do... I am a vegetarian so my choices are limited. I do eggs for breakfast, string cheese, peanut butter, veggie burgers, and fake chicken for lunch or dinner. I used to do beans but soaking them overnight drove me crazy and I could still taste the salt on canned beans, even when rinsed. And finally, wow, do I exercise! I am a fitness instructor which means I teach five hours a week and participate in group exercise classes an additional two hours beyond that. I thought perhaps I was holding on to weight because I didn't eat enough, so I have been slowly increasing my calorie intake to incorporate an additional protein and healthy fat each day. I continue to stay at 145 with those foods. In fact, here you go, my actual foods in a day: 5 starches (500cal), 2 1/2 proteins (usually 350cal), 3 fruits (200cal), unlimited vegetables, 2 dairy (200cal), 2 healthy fats (100). If I have condiments it's mustard or sugar free jelly. I only drink herbal tea and water, and sometimes decaf coffee with nothing in it. I shoot for 1500 calories a day, even though that's what I'm supposed to net without any working out. If I eat more than that I feel disgusting, and if I eat less, supposedly I'm not losing weight because my body is holding on to the little it gets. In other words, keep your thoughts rolling on this one, because I am still learning what is best for me and I'm open to all the help I can get. THANK YOU!
