Silverdragon's Journal, 18 August 2011

I've got good news and bad news.

The good news is, that I now fit into the skinniest clothes in my wardrobe.

The bad news is, that I now fit into the skinniest clothes in my wardrobe.

It may seem laughable, but this is a serious psychological barrier for me. Emotional baggage from Depression-era Oklahoma parents decrees that I may not give clothes away (I might need them someday), nor throw them away (wasteful), nor accept others' used clothing ("taking charity"), nor yet buy new clothing that I will probably undergrow on the way downward (both wasteful and extravagant). *alternately snarls and whimpers*

Help.

I understand what you are saying I am shrinking out of my clothes and know that by the time I reach my goal Iwil go through several different sizes of clothing. I do not want to be wasteful either. I have found some wonderful clothes, very nicely priced at places like the Salvation Army, St. Vincent De Paul and other such charities that people donate to. This is not considered wasteful to donate to these programs because they turn around sell these items to raise money for their charities at extremely discounted prices over what you would pay at the store for the same name brands. The only requirement is time and patience. Generally you have a section for jeans, they are not organized by size, or style, just simply jeans, so take a friend and an afternoon and make a day of it. Purusing the racks and trying on items from brand name companies that I know I have NEVER been able to wear in the past. Good Luck and keep up the great job!

I hear you and feel you completely. You will be okay. When you feel comfortable, why dont you donate 1/2 of your old clothes or dell em in a garage sale...and buy new clothes with the loot? Clothes ALWAYS move at garage sales. I do a "fill a box for 5 bucks " scheme and it works like a charm.
