@ Morticia - thanks!

@Diana - for sure. I actually walked quite a bit on Saturday and Sunday but then when I had lunges at the gym my knees hurt. I know the trainer only wants casual walking so no more speed walking for me. I had heavy glutes on Wednesday and my glutes still hurt today!

Due to scheduling conflicts i had my workouts tues and wed and my trainer did something called a push pull workout on those two days. Today my legs and bum are so sore and stiff (in a good way). Have you heard of this type of workout?

@YOH - no I haven't but I like the sounds of it. I agree with you I like being sore in a good way! Does the push pull involve certain equipment?

I do a legs, push (chest, shoulders, triceps), pull (back, biceps ) workout split every week. It’s a common lifting split.

@no1- maybe I do something but am not sure what it is unless I see it. My trainer is old school so a lot of things are basic with dumbbells, hex bars and bars. I do lat pulls on a machine but that is the only one I use.

Rpl, other than the sled which is a concave treadmill looking thing which i did push with (i actually love that machine) it was more like a super super wide stance with 25 lb kettlebell in opposite hand and static lunges one day for example and then next day heels of feet on box same kettlebell super short stance as far down as i could go lunges. That’s the best example i can give. There were squats and the wall machine with combo moves etc but i think it’s the way one pushes the muscle and the other movement pulls the muscle. I have never heard of this type of training. It was really tough. Much harder on day two than im making it sound.

The equipment doesn’t matter, dumbbells, cable, machine. A typical split for upper body is one day push movements, one day pull movements and one day legs (push and pull not separated). Sounds like YOH trainer split the lower body exercises into push/pull on separate days.

No1greater-exactly with 10-15 second rest intervals between sets. I was huffing puffing heart rate up. Was tough. In the old days when i just lifted weights i did back and bi’s one day, legs and glutes another and chest and tris a third day. I never got as worn out as i did this week.

@YOH & No1- Thanks that helps explain it better and sounds like a great workout! Do you track your heartbeat as I always find it interesting on the zones my heart beat is during my 1 hour workout. I hope YOH you give yourself a rest day after those!

I have to track my HR between sets because I’ve had issues with a high HR after taking the first Covid booster. Initially HR would jump up >140 and not go down for several mins. Now it still jumps up but comes down.

Rpl every day is a rest day😂. Matthew mcconaughey said decades ago that he tries to break a sweat every day. I never forgot that for some reason but seems like a reasonable philosophy to ascribe to. I dont check my HR but thats a good idea. I should start wearing my Apple Watch again. Was doing it for a couple of months after vertigo fiasco but got complacent and stopped. Thanks for the reminder.
