Weighed in after eating & drinking on a Caribbean cruise for 8 nights so expected to be up. Just get back down to business and eating right. Also first workout and the trainer backed me off quite a bit but it still was challenging and felt good to be back in a routine.

@OTB - Thanks! I know if I put the effort in it will be back in no time and I also know the trainer will push pretty fast to get my muscles back to working. It was a great time and really enjoyed that we could be disconnected from our phones.

RPL-you will be my test subject. I saw you got down to 130 pre vacation to give yourself room to enjoy while gone. That’s my thinking also, go down a few pounds before traveling to allow for meals out gain. So glad you enjoyed your time with your husband. Life is so stinking short. Would be nice to have more and more time to spend with those we 💕 love. While hubs and i were in Newport Beach for a month it was no vacation. We have not been on vacation in i think it’s been 12 years. My fault. I wouldn’t take time off work. We need to do it. Now i worry about my dogs given the situation we experienced with our Puppysitter this summer. Excuses? I used to love to travel.

@YOH - LOL - I know that is why I love this site. Some things I would not try, things to ponder and also what works for one may not work for another. Just like everyone that states we can add more calories but when we are at the young age we are it is definitely about lower quality calories! Agree with the losing before a vacation. I don't want to count calories during a vacation. I may workout but not tracking my food! I want to enjoy the regions food and not worry about calories. I pretty much only eat two meals though when we are on vacation. A good breakfast and a big night dinner. So that is definitely different than my 4 meals a day I do when I am counting my macros. I agree with you and your time in Newport Beach was no vacation. I am glad he was there with you and girl you need to get a vacation planned!! Understand the frustration though with the puppy sitter but do you have reputable dog kennels there? Life is too short and we do need to spend time with those we love as you said.

Dunno about reputable dog kennels here. We used to have an excellent boarding facility that was super safe and she treated the dogs better than humans. I never worried when they were there. I took my daughter to Europe for a month when she graduated high school and they stayed with her the entire time and i never worried. But, she was older and had cardiac issues and is no longer with us. Our puppysitter i dont worry about with our boys but i dont like the judgement she was using in august and am kind of pissed off at her. Not to mention i paid her $2000 for 27 days (3 days my neighbors watched them). So, thats where im at. Will get it figured out. My daughter’s puppy (1/2 blue heeler 1/2 Aussie) and my pomsky are way too much high energy to be left alone. Also my pomsky is aggressive with him even tho the 1/2 and 1/2 is twice his size…..but yes you are right we really do need to get away. Wow, that was a long roundabout way of saying you are right. Im a dork.😂

@YOH- Yikes I would say for what you paid her to just puppy sit that there should be no attitude! The bad thing about kennels too is they can get that kennel cough which I know it happens around here.

RPL MY former coworker retired a couple months ago (we are very close friends) and he and his wife went on the first leg of a 4 month vacation (Iceland, Portugal, Spain and Alaska). The first leg was one month and they have a 4 pound dog they put with a boarder. They paid her 300 for the whole month but it was in her home not a house sitter situation. The night before they were due home another dog in the house shook him by the neck and paralyzed him. Emergency vet medicated him heavily till they got home the next night to determine steps. He is now in heaven. This was one week after i got home. My little guy is only 21 pounds and thinks he is all husky. He talks like a husky he is assertive like a husky and he doesn’t like all dogs (my daughters puppy annoys him tho he will play with him). This scared me to pieces. My friends are guilt ridden an heartbroken. And i treat my dogs more like children by a mile than they do……and yes, what she charged me was ridiculous. I was just willing to pay because she’s been taking care of them since they were 8 weeks old. But im retired with no paycheck so my $$$ situation is vastly different than when she was working for us full time. I have rental income but property taxes and insurance and hoa dues are so high out here …. Ok thats my whine about money for the week.😂

Your so welcome and I'm so glad you had a great time.

@YOH - Oh my that is horrible!! Why would anyone do something like that is just beyond words. It is expensive taking care of our furry babies. We don't have any right now but had our fair share of animals when the kids were growing up. I understand the dollar concerns. As I get closer to retirement you do worry that you will have enough to last as long as you live for sure and that is an unknown!

Rpl I hadn’t planned on retiring till i was 64 or 65. If i lived that long (i had been pretty ill the last few years). The recovery from hip and obvious improvement in my health and my stress made me relent and agree to stop working. Hubs has been trying to get me to stop for last couple years. I dont plan on applying for social security till 66 which will relieve the $$$ pressure and after 10 years will pay out more than if i start at 60. I would be surprised to make it to 80 for a variety of reasons so waiting till 70 doesnt seem wise. So 66 it is. Im not wishing time away by any means but do look forward to that guaranteed income one day.
