NowIunderstand's Journal, 10 January 2015

Well, it would seem I'm back on track.

I've lost a bit more than 25 lbs since May 2014. This week I've performed some weight bearing exercises while I watch tv. Nothing outstanding, but I've noticed very worthwhile differences. I'm feeling stronger, and yesterday I cooked and cleaned the entire morning without having to sit down and rest because of my feet hurting or just being tired. I've noticed that I don't feel as wiped out as I use to.

I'm trying to stop giving food such a priority in my life. It's always all about food, weight loss, what's fattening, what's not, the shopping, waiting in line, looking for specials... So much energy for the last 52 years in this. It could have been spent on much more productive, lucrative, educational ways. I could have gone for a Nobel had it not been for my focus on food! Alas! lol. But we have to eat, and we have to eat well.

So what I've been doing this last week is at least cut out the chore of breakfast and having a green smoothie, with OJ, broccoli, spinach, banana and protein powder. And I'm good to go till 12.

I've also made a delicious batch of low cal, healthy puree for soup which I take a cup of and add water and condensed broth and have that for lunch. I add protein powder, and voilà.

I've been lucky, I've never minded eating the same thing over and over if I like the taste.

Still involves grocery shopping, cooking, etc but it takes a lot of the guesswork out.

Well that is it! Have a great week everyone. I'll try to repeat my success.

Nice drop, congrats :-) You can get to your goal weight, just keep working at it. You are already stronger and healthier so it's clearly worth it.

I tried to follow a Yoga app today and gave up after 7 minutes because it was too fast for me. LOL!!! I felt a bit sick after, BUT I will continue and see how I improve. I certainly need to. I hope I notice a difference, and soon. Tonight we have veg soup. It smells deelish. I am like you, if I like it, I am happy to eat it over and over. Yes, I hope in the near future we are standing erect, toned muscle (hiding under a layer of fat) and feeling gooood. And later, I hope we are not covering those muscles with so much fat, and on it goes ;)

At our age, working out with weights and taking care of ourselves is an imperative. I'm often reminded about that saying 'if you don't make time for exercice, you'll make time later on for being sick'. A good part of what keeps me focused is that I don't want to be an old lady, with all the woes. Just 20 min a day with make all the difference for the years to come It's a worthwhile investment.

You are doing great! I like your plan of a smoothie for breakfast and a soup for lunch. Dinner can be whatever we want, within reason. :)
