Good Morning FS Friends! For the next 3 weeks, I am embarking on a fasting experiment. I stumbled upon Fast-5 and my interest has been piqued. I do IF, some days better than others. Fast-5 is a version of IF. I wondered if their information was correct and if it would work. Dr. Bert Herring states that you can "reset your appetite control center" by fasting for 19 hours a day and eating for 5. Since our minds and stomachs are so closely connected, I'm experimenting. I'm giving it 3 weeks to see how I feel and how it's working for me. I want to learn to eat what I need and to listen to my body's cues about what and how much to eat.

Experiment began yesterday evening at 5 pm. Will keep you posted!

I do daily I.F. but not fasting for 19 hours. Too much for me. I have hypoglycemia.

I fast 20 hours every day and eat my meals in a 4 hour time period, it absolutely helps with my appetite! After about a week I no longer get hungry at all anymore except for an hour or so before my usual eating time, which is 5:00pm. It has made eating at a calorie deficit SO much more manageable!

I have been doing Keto along with IF 20/4. I love it as a way of eating that is "ditto" to EagrBeavr's post. I relax with it if I am visiting/vacation/events. But even in those rare times...I am really aware of what I am eating. Usually, not a problem. Thank you for your post. Made me snap to...what Do I do?

Morticia, glad IF works for you! Fasting longer definitely isn't for everyone.

EagrBeavr, I'm hoping that happens for me, too. The connection between what I want to eat vs what I need to eat needs to be reset. Hoping this helps! Good luck!

Judrose, I'm starting with 3 weeks and will see how it goes. I'm m hoping it changes my mindset. I did keto for a while, but it didn't work with my family. Just being more mindful and aware should help!

I often do 18:6 I/F and it feels great
