Absynthia's Journal, 17 October 2014

Had to go to an overnight meeting/training for work. 6 hours drive each way. We ate dinner at a steakhouse, so that was fine. But the next morning we had breakfast in the hotel -- choices were waffles, toast, muffins, oatmeal, donuts, biscuits and gravy, assorted sweetened yogurts... perfect for low carb. :( There was also a sad little bowl of hard boiled eggs, and a basket of fruit. They did have decaf coffee so I loaded it down with cream, and had 2 boiled eggs. I heard someone mention that we were having pizza for lunch (at the meeting, can't leave to get food anywhere else) so out of desperation I snagged an apple and put it in my purse.

For lunch I had the toppings off 2 pieces of pizza and I ate the outside portion of the apple -- the peel and just some of the meat. When we had a break, there was a vending machine in the hotel where I spied a pack of peanuts amidst the candy bars and chips, so I wolfed those down...

I think I deserve some kind of an award! LOL Unfortunately, my weight is up 4 pounds today and I still haven't lost any more. Two weeks now. I hope the extra pounds are just fluid, from sitting/driving all day for 2 days. My ankles are very swollen.
312.0 lb Lost so far: 81.0 lb.    Still to go: 62.0 lb.    Diet followed reasonably well.

OH my what a challange! That sounds like what my company would come up with as they bring in pizza all the time for lunch when we have to work through, even though we get 5 or 6 emails a day with health tips. go figure.

You did good with the food choices you made. It's difficult to eat healthy when the food options are all calorie bombs, delicious off course but not healthy at all.

It seems like there would be some consideration for people with diet restrictions. If I'd known in advance, I'd have got something the night before and brought my own lunch. Last time we did this, they had deli sandwich fixings and both veggie and fruit trays, so it was much better. This time pizza, cookies, sodas. It felt like what you'd give 12 year-olds on a sleep over!

Ugh! I hate it when you go somewhere and there are only "healthy" choices to choose from...you know, low fat, high carb, heart healthy crap! I think you did amazing with your choices under such difficult circumstances and the scale fairies will reward you accordingly once the water from the trip is gone!
