Gnewfry, I used to love a lot of foods like meat (salmon, scallops, mussels and RARE steak were my faves, oh and my homemade oven roasted chicken!), dairy (I had a serious Valdeon fixation for about a year! It's an intense Spanish bleu cheese wrapped in Sycamore leaves.) and eggs were the last food I kicked to the curb over a year ago. I could have eaten them three times a day! I used to be a professional cook and was a very adventurist home cook/foodie as well for the last 25 years. So, I had an intense and self-destructive love affair with food for a long time. But, after struggling with so much physical and emotional pain from my health problems, I just reached a point where I wanted my health more than I wanted those foods. I have begun to realize that I don't love those foods anymore. I love the vibrant, joyful, pain-free life I have now infinitely more than any food! I've severed my emotional attachment to foods like those forever. I'm not even tempted to partake in them anymore. This hasn't been an overnight process. It's taken me years of serious research, denial, soul searching and trial and error to get to where I am. Spending time with my mom this weekend, who is still only a year into her wellness path, has made me realize how far I've come.

you are doing a great job! i'm so glad food awareness has made such a difference for you. and that you have the support of your mom. my friend has found a lot of food to affect her state of health as well. she is now grain free, which seems so hard to me, and paleo except she eats potatoes. she is always trying to get me to be grain free too, but it's not for me. it's great that your pain is gone, that would definitely be a big motivator.
