Okay, so granted, I haven't been as gung ho about this challenge as I was with the first one, but I've still pretty much managed to keep on track for the most part. And, I've upped the exercise factor as well, so my thoughts were that I had just plateaued.

Then, last night I went to put my class ring back on my finger and I could barely get it over my knuckle! What the hell? I'd taken it off while crocheting because it kept sliding around and bothering me while I crocheted, so I just left it off the last two weeks. I'd lost enough weight that all my rings were getting looser, so instead of messing with it, I just kept it off.

I looked at my hands, my feet and noticed just the slightest bit of swelling. What's up with that? Then, all of a sudden, it was like a light bulb went off over my head.

On May 29th, I went to the dentist to get work started on a new bridge. Turns out I had to have a root canal in one of the anchor teeth. So, since she had other patients, she started it and put on a temporary, sent me home and scheduled another appt for a week later to finish it.

The next morning, I woke up to extreme pain and the gum around that tooth was so swollen, I couldn't even close my mouth. Called the Dr, she called in a script for penicillin and I've been on it ever since.

I did a Bing search and found out (duh!) that YES, penicillin (and any antibiotic) causes weight gain. It's given to chicken, cows, pigs and all sort of farm animals to fatten them up for sale. Well, I don't know why it didn't occur to me (but I guess it's a good thing I didn't REALLY slack off or I'd've gained a lot of weight and been really pissed!)

Another great reason to eat organic!! So, today is the last day of the penicillin regimen (you know, you have to take the whole script) and I'm going to continue with my level of activity and exercise to drop that slight weight gain and see if I can get back to losing on a regular basis.

It's an ongoing battle people--you gotta stay with it!!
