My hubby and I are the same way. We let our kids have gum but they are lucky to get candy once in a month. No need for it. It's called a treat for a reason. We do however have ice cream it seems like once a week. It's my weakness. :/

my mom never bought me any sweets not even as a treat but my dd always bought me sweets so meh :D i never got treats though when I got good grades or did something good I didn't get anything :( I think when I have kids I'll do it like you and not like them, it's much better for them and stops them from binging on sweets like mad when they get the chance to eat some

Children are such a joy and are always learning from us adults--even when we don't think they are paying any attention! You are a good mother. Always be the best example for your 2 girls, and they will instill the same in their children. Give your Happy Birthday girl and your other daughter a hug and kiss from me for they both deserve that much love!
