Hi Did the doctor explain the why regarding bone marrow? I ask because there are various treatments but it depends on the issue. Could be a blood transfusion up to a bone marrow transplant.

I have two friends that did bone marrow transplants over the years, one had an identical twin, the other had a match. both used city of hope in los angeles after secondary consultations. Both are still alive and living well.

I should note, none of that is direct experience from me. just living in their respective orbits. both were active and healthy prior to their respective diagnoses as well, so all that comes into play.

Thanks Katsolo that helps, I don't think he wants them to do the bone marrow treatment.

My Aunt who had waldenstrom (blood ca) had marrow biopsy, retrival and implant. Was there for her. Its a hard road. But what other choice to you have? If a solid tumor I would say look at proton therapy but if systemic (blood, lymph) this seems to be the path of hope. Best to you both hugs

Hi Your husband’s bone issue It appears the doctor did a poor job explaining the situation and treatment options plus impact of each ( risks and benefits). I highly recommend a virtual call with your doctor Have all your questions lined up and ask ask ask questions until you are satisfied and can make an informed decision of steps to take.

Also if you need more info there might be a nurse navigatiom to support you. The nurse help you explore what question you have, work with doctors you both to get answers and then meet with you to explain in non medical language the amswers. You also can lean your insurance company to help explore options. Call them and ask for someone that will comsult with you. Many patients are surprise to learn they have medical staff.
