crabby Kat's Journal, 07 May 2014

Good morning, all. My body revolted from my excesses; I saw my physical therapist yesterday. I had a up-slip of the right side of my pelvis, T-10 was rotated, as well as one of my cervical vertebrae. I danced too much last week to burn of my emotions and emotional eating, so my body sent me a message to slow down.

My physical therapist was able to correct the issues, told me to remember to do my pelvic stabilization exercises, be wise about Zumba, and agreed that Pilates would be a great cross-training class for me. I have a hypermobile SI joint, and I need to work on core strength to keep me stable.

My knees and foot were hurting from overuse as well as the pelvic thing. Its funny how one thing being out of alignment can travel up and down the spine/whole body. So, I'm going to Zumba this morning. There's a Pilates class right after it in the next room. Not sure if it would be wise for me to try both, but I'll take my extra-thick mat in case I feel good enough to try a little of the Pilates. I will most likely be so drenched in sweat that I'd slide off my mat, hahaha! I will use my wise mind...

I'd better get moving.

Make sure you're taking care of yourself and listen to your body! Then let me know how the pilates goes. I've always wanted to try it. :)

Okay, okay, I did both Zumba and Pilates today! DFW, it was awesome. Despite the fact that the fabulous. Gina Grant was the instructor today I toned it down. No jumping, stomping, or other high-impact moves I still had a great time and a great workout. I went into Pilates thinking I could leave at any time, taking it easy. I loved it. Great core work, of course, but also I stretched all those muscles I'd just used in Zumba. I did the whole hour. :o) I did shopping, then came home to stretch, roll, and eat a healthy lunch. I have ice on both knees, and soon I'll ice my lower back. A pretty darn good day, I have to say. The sun is shining birds are singing, and I have everything I need to make a quick yet healthy dinner.

Glad you enjoyed yourself but took care of yourself by toning it down. Did your partner go to her brothers funeral? Hope you get to celebrate your anniversary soon.

The funeral is Saturday, giving more time for family to gather. My partner's daughter & one grandson will be coming up from California. I'll bake something to send to the big gathering at the widow's home. I'm really not acquainted with that branch of the family; only saw the brother a couple times in 15 years. I'm also baking for my Nana Connie's Mother's Day brunch, and for one of my favorite Zumba instructor's birthday (also Sunday); he's teaching on his Birthday. That should be fun; he's a fun-loving guy.

Keep your head up! I know it sounds cliche', but sometimes it feels like you're drowning when everything around you is falling apart. Things will get better. We are all here to support you. :*
