Deb_N's Journal, 26 April 2014

I like weighing every day, because it means I have to be very careful about what I eat every day. However, after I reach my goal weight, I only want to weigh once a week or maybe once a month. ;)
173.6 lb Lost so far: 28.4 lb.    Still to go: 37.6 lb.    Diet followed reasonably well.

Well actually, losing is only half the battle. It creeps on so fast it's not funny. If you only weigh once a month, you might be 10 pounds heavier by the end of the month and not realize it. So you will want to keep a close eye on the scale after you lose the weight in order to maintain it. I don't think you would have to weigh every day, but many successful people give themselves a window of 2 to 3 pounds and once the scale goes up, the get it off right away. Once a week would probably be great on maintenance.

At goal weight you'll have the opportunity to make a daily weigh-in and pump the air with an emphatic "YES" ... and an occasional, 'had too much at the party, best cool it for a few days'. On the other hand if you weigh in weekly or monthly and see the weight increase you MUST steel yourself to committing to retaining the lost goal weight, anything else would be acknowledging that you lack commitment to maintain that cherished goal weight. (Oops, I think I'm speaking from my own weakness and experience, sorry. But best wishes to you in attaining and maintaining that goal weight.)

That's a good idea Deb and I will probably weigh in once a month as well but I will track myself another way as well; I will buy some really tight jeans and put them on once a week. If they are too tight...back to working out more.

Thanks, everyone! I am going to study your comments and keep myself alert for maintaining. Hope I get to my goal weight by my birthday in September, but if it takes a bit longer, surely I get there by October. :)
