Still feeling a bit "meh", but trying to stay within the normal daily limits. My MIL has been in the hospital since March 21st and it feels weird not to have the routine of taking care of her. Seems she may not actually recover this time around.

When she was in the hospital in 2011, for kidney failure, they didn't figure she'd make it and she bounced back admirably. This time around, kidneys and heart (CHF) are still issues, but are being corrected medically, so that's good. However, she did have pneumonia and is having difficulty breathing, and even with all the measures they've taken, nothing seems to be correcting that.

She isn't a good surgical candidate because of her age, so that's not something to be considered, she'll have one really good day and 5 where all she does is sleep with the Bi_Pap machine breathing for her. So, we're into Palliative care and, while she could bounce back and be with us for another week, month or year; it's not beyond the realm of possibilities that she won't be with us much longer.

Obviously, I'm not really into the exercise routine right now, and just eating to keep going. My BF (do they call them that when we're in this age bracket?--lol), has been very supportive and available, so I do have a positive influence to keep me in balance, which is good.

If Leona does indeed, pass in the next few days or week, then it will be a big flurry of the usual paperwork and miscellaneous associated with death, but not something I didn't go through when her husband died 3 years ago. Since I am her Guardian/Conservator, the legal stuff is pretty cut and dried. I have the support of her son (my ex husband) and her daughter (who lives in Kansas and who we took our road trip to see last August), but the biggest problem will be her youngest son. He's a druggie, drinker, sponge off the system and trouble maker who has made my taking care of his mother a big pain in the butt these past 3 years, so that's the one aspect of this I'm not looking forward to. There are some people who feel the world owes them a living and he's one of them.
