>>> Am I Hungry or Just Not Full? <<<

So I've paid a lot more attention to my body in the last two weeks regarding what I put into it. How do I feel after I eat? For example, this morning I had some yogurt, granola, apple pieces and honey all mixed together. It was delicious and now I feel so full its absurd. It was less than 500 calories and I feel too full to work out. *but I will!*

This increased awareness made me think about the differences I feel between being hungry and not being full. I've been so used to being full and overly stuffed for so long that when I'm not stuffed then I misinterpret it as being hungry. Not stuffed = hungry. But I'm not hungry. I'm just not full. That difference in feeling is what I've still got to get a hold on.

How to know when I'm hungry, how to know when I'm full and how to know when I'm neither one. If anyone out there has been able to hold onto that, please share!

On a side note, I'm down to 402 and I'm so close to being out of the 400s that I can taste it! But I'm not gonna eat it because I don't know how many calories are it in!

Excellent Modiggi, only 2 more pounds! I'm struggling with the same hungry, full or either issue too. Have you tried drinking hot water with lemon during the uncertainty?

Me, too. Hungry or full, that is the question! I usually leave the table and tell myself that I can always eat a snack later, if I get hungry. After dinner, I am busy reading and sometimes my snack is just water and chewing sugar free gum, because I really didn't need a snack.

Learning to listen to your body signals can be a challenge. Sometimes I don't know if I am hungry, in a bad mood, thirsty, been sitting too long at my desk and need to get up and move, low on water, and the list goes on and on. If you aren't used to it, turning into oneself is like trying to watch a movie that has been dubbed; you recognize a lot of what is going on and you think you understand the story but all the pieces don't quite fit together. I'm getting better at listening but I'm still not there - it is a process. Keep up the good work and congratulations on the personal insight. 300-land, here you come!

I think that after having eaten a lot in the past and always having that full feeling, your brain is confused about the signals it's receiving. You need to very consciously retrain your brain to understand that the stuffed feeling in your stomach is not the correct signal. Over time, I think your brain will come to realize what stuffed versus full versus normal all feel like. In the mean time, I think it's important to go with what your dr or dietician recommend for calories and stick with a paper plan, because your mind will play tricks ion you. Self control is so hard, but when you record everything you eat(like you do on FS), it makes you more accountable and easier to do. Don't give up. You're doing fantastic! It will be a long journey but absolutely worth it in the end. Don't give up and congratulations on your weight loss!!
