Every year for the past three years, since the start of my Fat Secret entry, I have been following a "beach body" regimen. For this, I start a workout/diet plan early in the year, usually before March, so that by the time June rolls around, I am in beach shape. I do what is necessary to keep in this shape through september, and then I fall off completely until the following year. This allows me to enjoy the plethora of holiday foods, but also keeps me from getting burnt out on working out/dieting. Plus, with three kids, it's very hard to live this lifestyle year round. However, I've found that this plan is not only extremely frustrating at the start of the new year, but I have to feel that it can't be that healthy on the body, either.

Also, I left Fat Secret, because I felt that I was taking it way too far in a very unhealthy way. I was weighing in every day and neurotically inputing every single scrap I ate. When I finally reached my fitness goals, I realized that, although I looked great, I felt horrible. I was cranky, and always thinking about food. I'm hoping to change that this time...

Now, I've started a bit earlier this year, because I want to see what dieting and portion control can do by themselves, aside from working out. Again, with three kids and two jobs, finding time to work out is hard. I'm hoping that if I can be successful with the dieting, or at least portion control, I won't have to have such a huge dropoff towards the end of the year. Here's to the start of a new challenge!
