59Carol's Journal, 28 November 2020

This has been quite the month! When I injured my knee and the weight kept going up despite eating the same way, it was hard to preserve. In the end as the swelling went down so did the weight. Today I am logging in a 2.2 pound loss with an overall loss for the month of 3.8 pounds. I aim for a pound loss per week so this is right on target!

This week I started back into my snowshoeing. I was a bit apprehensive as a fall would/could be devastating on my knee. I am pleased to report that I did not fall once! I kept it to short runs starting at 15 min and now at 20 min. I have been breaking trail willy nilly in my barnyard and it has been loads of fun!

I started a new Tai Chi video that is much more traditional than the ones I was using. I am in the very early days however it appears to be what I was looking for.

My basement continues to move along. Today they are taping and mudding the drywall in the three bedrooms, bathroom, hall and storage room. My daughter stopped by to see and was very impressed!

My grandkids spontaneously decided to come stay at my place last night. I had them online doing their school and then my granddaughter wanted to make an apple pie so we were peeling apples and making crust. Thank goodness between the kids and the two workers there is only one piece of pie left which is earmarked for my daughter. I did not eat any!!! I will be dropping the kids off early this afternoon.

Today I meet with a potential buyer for a vintage Lincoln I am selling and I have a conference call meeting this morning. Also there is a fellow who is supposed to show up today to haul away one more derelict vehicle! Lots on the go.

Nice drop!!! Glad you are doing well and didn't fall!!! Snowshoeing is something I've wanted to try for awhile now.

Such a lot going on! Do be careful, and don't step on an edge! How big are your snowshoes? The only kind I have ever tried are the massive traditional (traditional to somebody) ones that are raindrop shaped and made with rawhide. Biggest workout ever as I recall! How terrific to have your family near enough to just come! I'm glad your remodeling is chugging along well. It will be so great to have your basement so changed. Wonderful work on the weight loss!!!

Thanks Melissa. I have relatively small lightweight snowshoes made of aluminum with plastic and cloth foot holders. They are actually very easy to manage. I don't find it much more difficult than going for a walk unless I hit heavy snow then I have to slog a bit. Right now it is cushiony on the snow covered long grass. I don't actually get winded. Just a nice feeling of having been outside in the fresh air and that I have moved my muscles a bit. Every once in awhile I hit an unexpected dip or a snow covered fallen tree so I do have to really watch my step! I am very excited about my renos! They are coming along. In a week or two I will be able to move things into the finished rooms and that will be fantastic. Then the last area - a family, record, CD space will be done. It is possible that it will all be done by Christmas but I am mentally preparing myself for a January finish.
