Silverweb's Journal, 24 November 2010

I weighed myself during this whole week and everyday was different. One day it said 195, another day said 193, another 191. Now, at the weekly weigh in, shows one pound lost since last week and I'm at 187, so my fear of a stall is unfounded. It is a bit weird that the water weight retention problem is kicking in at this point in the loss cycle. I guess it makes some sense. Someone told me fat cells don't go away, they just deflate, lose the fat that was in them, but the cell wall remains and fills in with water sometimes in the body's attempt to maintain equilibrium.

If that is true, then all the fat cells that were created while we are fat just stay there waiting to refill up with fat? Yikes.

Just want to record, for the record, that this time of year is hard. Not because of the holidays but because this year it is really cold here where I am. Its also dark. Black clouds seem to dominate the sky almost every day. I am still struggling with the stress of the financial hardships we've been through and feeling unsure of the future. I guess stress plays out in the maintaining of weight, even water weight. Today I have a headache. That always happens when I lose any weight. I can tell I'm dropping when I get sad. Funny, huh?

Well, I'll perk up again at some point. Sighs...Everything really is okay. Just emotional I guess. *smiles*

Glad to hear you are losing weight, and yes, fat cells only shrink, they never go away. So they are always waiting for us to slip up and fill them back up again, how aweful is that? Try adding some salt to your food everday and it may eliminate the headache. Since we are not eating carbs, we do not retain as much water and sometimes lose more than we should. Salt helps that. Sorry things are hard for you now, I live in a hot place, so like when it is stormy and rainy. Feel better and be proud of your loss

Thank you for that input. I grew up in a warm environment, so the holidays seem really bleak to me when it is icy or snowy. I am used to Xmas lights on cacti and fake snow on santa's sleigh. lol Happy Holidays!
