May I be so "perfectly as imperfect" as John and Steven! 👣

Thanks Melissa!!! Steven and I have been doing our maintenance here for a long time without setbacks. Why stop doing what works? I encourage everyone who reaches their goal weight to keep on logging. I have seen many people come here and reach their goal weight then stop doing what they did to reach their goal. Months later they return to loose the weight they regained. It's easier to be "perfectly imperfect."

Melissa, logging may not work for everyone but for me it is a small price to pay to stay on track, just like staying active, flossing and brushing teeth, and other regular habits...ups and downs are inevitable due to many factors but with some planning AND self awareness hopefully we all can get to where we want to be and stay close to our goal. I also had some good success early to help keep me motivated, plus some great buddies and role models here on FS to watch and learn from (they know who they are)...but it is never taken for granted that I can ignore the input side of things even though I am pretty active compared to most folks. Good luck with your maintenance, remember reaching goal is not a finish line, just a new beginning on a life long journey, take care and good luck!!

Thank you, guys, for sharing your advice. It is what I need and what I want to do. Over the last months, I have been easing away from logging everything, and it is so easy to get sloppy. While being able to get to the gym and burn hundreds on hundreds of calories a day, it was a bit less of an issue. Now thst my activity is less, I have to be a lot more careful on the imput side of things. Back to longing every bite. I also know that my goal weight may not be totally realistic to maintain.

As a super fit teen with hardly a scrap of fat and constantly active, I never ever remember weighing less than 145. I am now at nearly that fitness level but... A good deal older. 😁 I'm not going to change my "goal" weight at this time, but I'm gaging my success more by my wind, strength, measurements, how I feel... If I am feeling in control of my diet or not. I'm sure sticking with this new life plan, because the alternative is miserable.

Hi Melissa, I agree with Steven. Logging isn't for everyone but it works well for me. Sometimes I under eat and logging helps me with that too. If I didn't log I would never know. As a senior citizen good nutrition is an important part of my health equation along with sleep and activity. You won't have any problems with maintenance as long as you want to stay on track. I love the last line of Steven's reply. When I went into maintenance, I used it for motivation...

Thanks, John! I'm doing better! It is a daily fight to make good choices sometimes, but I'm keeping in the battle!
