Mariah Nichols's Journal, 14 February 2020

I’m back to yo-yo-ing between the same 5 pounds again. Gave up keto (again) because I struggle with it too much. Now, I’ve gained 5 pounds in the last week. I do cardio workouts everyday, yet the weight has been piling back on faster than I can keep up with! This is so frustrating. I’ve said it before but this is exactly why I end up quitting all the time 😤😔

Have you tried meal prepping before? Keto “works” for me for about 2 weeks. I lose 30-35lb. Then 8 weeks later I I’ve gained 40 back 😂. I’ve been meal prepping for over a month and it’s a lot more steady and easier because I can eat what I want just less of it.

I do meal prep! I always have, actually. That’s what blows my mind lol I incorporated carbs (from vegetables) back in my diet and have gained so much weight back this week alone! I workout and just don’t understand what kinds of food my body needs/wants 😞

Are you recording accurately? Your food diary reflects a very low intake for your weight.

I was going to ask what Bella asked. Cardio will continue to be hard work when you don't see the results. Logging in the food journal saved me. It allows me to know my calorie deficit. Sorry about your struggle. There is great support here. Please don't give up.

I would also add - in MY opinion - that the yo-you is okay for a while as long as it isn't a steady increase without a fluctuating decrease. I do this for a while, get a woosh of a few pounds, then bounce again. It's just part of the process. Like Angel wrote - don't give up. Just stay the course and give it time.

I took a look at your food journal. You were doing great on keto. It looks like when you go off keto, you consume under 1000 calories. It's all about the commitment. If you're upset or angry, it may sabotage your journey. It took me over a year to drop 40 pounds. Please invest in your health. ♥️

For me, the simple truth is that I cannot do keto. I cheat too much. It’s my self-control problem, not keto. If I get 150 carbs or less, 60 protein or more, 1700 or less calories per day, I can drop weight. If I think I am getting too hungry, I eat like I haven’t eaten in years. I can’t seem to control myself. Don’t give up. Keep tweeking your numbers until it works for you. It’s worth it!

Yeah thats my story. I was on this site for 6 years, on and off with Atkins and then Keto. I would lose weight on Atkins/Keto, but, I couldn't-stop-cheating. In the end fasting is how I dropped the weight. After I dropped the weight, not eating 'solid food' 5 days a week allowed me to stop cheating. Good luck!

Probably just water weight from the carbs after not eating them. Just temporary. Stay the course!

I agree with some of the posts regarding intermittent fasting. I have tried every single diet imaginable, even "hypnosis". This was a big flop. I hate chocolate and after my first session had a craving for chocolate chip cookies. 😠 Every time after 6 pounds I stopped losing and start climbing. So now I tried slim fast for 1 month to reduce my appetite. Once I lost 6 pound I switched to intermittent fasting. I do 5:2. And have lost a total of 12 pounds. The 5:2 allowed me to lose from 2-3 pounds a week. This is really working. Maybe you should try it.
