So is there a book on trigger foods? if not there should be. I'm totally convinced that certain foods trigger people to eat more, eat bad etc... For me this week and probably every week its sugar. Once I eat it I just want more and more and the wheels fall off the track... I think I can only allow myself a bite(portion-whatever you want to call it) if and ONLY IF I promise to walk away and not take another bite. But if I don't know for 100% that I can do that then I cannot have the bite.

For me this week it was a fight with hubby that led me to go off rails, DQ blizzard followed by eating my daughter's candy - how sad is that? Then I came to this sugar realization and promise/boundary that I must make to myself before I eat sugar. So this Chocolate cake (I didn't bake it) that ended up in my house. I was going to eat it last night - 'just take a bite' but I knew I wouldn't stop so I took a big smell (call me crazy) but that was it. Thank you will power - you do exist in some small corner of my brain. had I not had that will power I don't think I would have shone the .8 # weight loss this week.

Great job on your willpower. I'd have to say sugar is probably a trigger food for me. Last year when I decided I needed to start this journey (again), I was getting box tops together for school and realized they were all (and there were a lot) from the Chocolate Chip cookie mix you just add an egg and butter to. I was making those babies like crazy and eating most of them. . . This weekend I made volcano dip (hamburger, cheese, garlic, banana peppers, yummy but not healthy) and decided since that was bad I may as well have some cookies. Sunday I was down on myself major for my indulgence, but I picked myself up and will move on. I think I will wait quite awhile before I buy anymore of those cookies. My MIL (who lost 170 pounds) does the smell thing. We tease her about it, but hey if that's what works!!

Yes it is. It is a white processed food that makes your blood sugar rise and drop quickly giving you the feeling you are hungry. So everything that has sugar, corn syrup, HF corn syrup even fructose (fruit sugar with out the fiber and other stuff) will make you eat more. Hence why they do it. That is why people say white is bad. First start with pure cane sugar, what that means is there is no beet sugar added (no GMOs). Try raw pure cane sugar or coconut sugar or Honey but keep in mind that sweet is sweet it still has calories. People went all out on Agave Syrup but when I research it it was as processed as corn syrup. DO some research for your self. skirch97 - i do the same thing - i think "oh I just ate like crap, so I might as well throw dessert on top of it". BUt as long as I'm only doing that once a week - I'm ok - the thing is having the willpower and fighting thru the 'food hangover' the next day. i love hearing that your MIL lost 170 and does the smell thing! LOL!! rebecca - thanks for the advice - I'll look it up on pinterest!
