I think the key with whatever diet you're doing is to stay consistent and stay the course no matter what the scale or ketones read. If you do you will lose weight. The only diet that really is harmful and doesn't work that way long term is drastic daily calorie reduction because your body slows it's calorie burning way down. But keto isn't extreme calorie reduction. Hang in there!

The strips aren't always accurate. If your body is using the ketones for fuel, they won't register on the strips. I am T2D so my ketones typically range 0.5 to 0.8, which would never give more than a trace reading on the strips. My KetoMojo meter gives more accurate results.

Are you sure you want to do this... Your doctor is OK with it?

He doesn't know yet. I don't want to see him and feel disappointed that I put weight on.

If you are eating a ketogenic WOE and taking any T2D medications, please monitor your BS closely and talk to your doctor! For many T2 diabetics, keto works to bring BS down quite quickly and the medications need to be adjusted.
