madfoxmade's Journal, 27 April 2019

I used to be a 9 Jr petite and weight 110 lbs. when I was in my late 20's. Then I had my 5th child at 32.
Since then it has been the battle of the bulge. I get to a fair weight then I gain it back. I feel like a yoyo.
I gained a lot in 1988 while going to Nursing School. I was studying and working 2 part time jobs and raising my last child. I was single and had very little money. All the food I could afford was packed with calories, sugar, and fat. I we t from a size 12 to an 18.
Over the years down to a 14 the back up to a 20. I worked nights and slept days. 12 hour shifts from 7 PM to 7 am. I would eat breakfast go to bed so I could work. I never had time for the gym. I was single when the youngest was 9 mo old my husband left a note saying he was tired of being a dad. That he wanted to spend the money he made on himself.
Stress was how I lived at home and on the job. Someone would bring pizza for all the nurses or shower us with doughnuts. The pounds would come I would diet lose some weight then gain it back.
My big down fall is I love to eat. Choclate, was there life before choclate? I don't think so.
So I am on this journey to get more fit and loose weight.
183.4 lb Lost so far: 1.0 lb.    Still to go: 43.4 lb.    Diet followed reasonably well.

After God created woman, Adam begged for reprieve. So, God created chocolate, and Eve pronounced it "very good!" A nurse's life is not easy. The nurses with children I knew when we were all working pulled "fourteen 12's" every week -- 12 at work, 12 at home. I think coke oven brick layers (in the steel industry) had it easier! Hang in there, Mae!

Thank you. Yes that was my life. Now that I have retired I am trying to get a lot fitter and it has been a journey. I know there is still a lot to come. I am doing my best to make it better. My son does all the shopping therefore I am left to choose from what he brings in. Still I am determined to get there. I am glad I found this app. Now I can see how others stay strong. If I slip then there will be someone to urge me to get back on the path. I can help cheer other on and help the stay on the path.
